MXR M80 Preamp DI - question about color/scoop feature

I'm interested in this pre but not thrilled that the dist channel automatically engages the color switch/mid scoop.

Does the dist channel's "scoop" only apply to the distorted signal, and the blended clean remain unaffected. Or is the entire signal scooped out clean blend as well? If I did use it I'd have the blend mostly clean anyway so I could make that work. But if it is the entirety of the signal maybe I'll look elsewhere.

I've owned this pedal ages ago and did a lot of reading up and asking questions back then.

The 'color' button only toggles a mid-scoop on the clean channel. On the distortion channel the clean part of the sound is always scooped. This is in a way to 'make room' for the mids of the distorted sound.

It's a neat idea in theory, but it can make it hard to allign clean and distorted on the same shared EQ. Especially because the drive can be a bit harsh and you might not want it so present.

Hope this helps :)!
