My amp took a tumble down the stairs

My main rig that i use is a GK MB212 old version.
Absolutely LOVE that amp.
We were playing a show on saturday in a nightclub thats in a basement.
Great show, maybe 150 people there amp held its own without pa support and all was good.
As we are leaving im at the top of the stairs and re-adjust my grip as i opened the door and there it went.
Boom/bam/boom/boom/bam :'(
It didnt make it..... R.I.P.
But on the bright side of things i have my 2 Avatar 4x10's and Sunn 300W Tube head that i used for outdoors gigs and from my earlier days before i went lightweight and now ive come to a decision.
Going to sell the setup and buy the newer model GK MB212-II with the powered 212MBP.
Figure 1000W thru a 4x12 can handle the outdoor shows and the MB212-II can handle everything else.
Im just hoping the newer models have the same sound as the older ones.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. I know it's just "stuff" but my gear tends to gain sentimental value as we age together. I rarely part with instruments and equipment. I've still got amps and basses from the 70s and 80s, stuff older than my kids and lasting longer than my marriages, that I doubt I will ever part with unless they come to some untimely end like your amp. On the bright side, you get new gear! It's almost a "circle of life". Hacuna Matata and all that rot.

No idea. Just started sounding really crappy and I had no volume. I found the speakers were bad but replacing them didn't seem to fix the issue. I've taken it to two different repair guys and neither of them were able to fix it.

My old Peavey combo went through a window and kept working. Average tone but great reliability.

From what I noticed when the store I worked at got them in, GK revamped aesthetically, pput in the non powered link, and also dampened the cabs properly so they aren't quite so boomy and put in a beefier tweeter that's not so prone to frying. Solid amps.

It's about 3 years old. Just out of warranty.

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry for your loss! I know your pain, my sister used my amp as a stool step to hit this moth on our ceiling. She fell right through the amp face into the speaker cone, my face was in shock for an hour! I got a new one the next week but me and my old bass amp shared some beautiful memories...

You need to find a REAL tech, someone with access to and ability to read schematics.
Someone local, someone that specializes in this type of equipment.
This will most likely NOT be at guitar center or best buy.

Just be glad it wasn't an Ampeg, then you'd have to buy the bar owner a new stairwell....
