What does that have to do with covers vs originals?
EVERY SINGLE "GREAT" BAND EVER STARTED AS A BUNCH OF NOBODIES. And nobody knew who Mozart and Bach were until they were Mozart and Bach. T
".
that's true. and for every "NOBODY" that made it, 10,000,000 others didn't make it because they assumed because one group of "nobodies' made it than they can.
it's like saying, "I can win Powerball because someone in New Jersey did!" Yes, it's possible, but the odds are simply not very good
Snarky one liners don’t invalidate his point. As a third party observer, I’m afraid he’s correct. Your point about everyone looking down their nose at original music is false. We only look down on pretentious songwriters that have a chip on their shoulder DESPITE writing garbage. If that doesn’t describe you, then don’t worry about it.Nope, missed it by a country mile.
Let’s try one more time... Take a deep breath and try your best. The POINT is that the reason those bands are big, is because people SUPPORTED them WHEN they were nobodies, until they became SOMEBODIES. Which is how it ALWAYS works. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
The songs that people are covering come from SOMEWHERE. Maybe yall should take 5 years in solitary meditation pondering about where that is.

Quote of the year, maybe decade!I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Really? Oh come on... everyone gets his oversimplified point. It’s just not an accurate viewing of the whole big picture. And rather then argue his side with an actual valid point, he simply implies that everyone else is stupid. I hope for his sake that he is 11 years old and still has more mental and social development at his disposal.Quote of the year, maybe decade!
Yea, really. Lighten up. The quote is funny on its own, whether or not you agree what it was aimed at.Really? Oh come on... everyone gets his oversimplified point. Let’s look at three hit original songs from the 90’s.
Brain Stew (Green Day)
Celebrity Skin (Hole)
Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)
Those are all hit singles by bands that “made it”. Just out of curiosity, does anyone here think that writing any of those three hit songs was more respectable than being able to perfectly pull off Steely Dan’s Aja album live? For me it’s a tough call.
Trades? If you believe that, I have a bridge over the East River I'd like to sell you.
