My Band Dropped the Bomb on Me

For instance, I had a question about something when I was creating our website. I think it had to do with reverb nation and why we don't use the page as much. It was kind of an obvious question, but he was analyzing WHY I was asking him the question instead of just answering me and moving on.

I wound up seeing our friend online so I just asked him since he was online. Our guitarist found out that I "went behind his back" and was pissed. This was early on when I didn't know that they had strong feelings about that sort of thing. Their feelings were, if I book a gig and you have a question about it, you don't go to the promoter with the question, you go to me since I was the one who started the initial correspondence.

I don't see how you were able to be in a band with such sensitive "guys" in the first place. sheesh. you are better off. rock on.

That would lead me to believe that your understanding of rock history might perhaps be a bit tentative, but okay.

The worst part about it I thought was the bass player getting on mic at the end and announcing to the audience that it was horrible. What a sourpuss and a drag. Way to perform, dude. Good riddance, I would say.

Either way, why would you be commenting about your band with the word "horrible" in it?

IME, those guys will never really go anywhere much because they are drama kings and create their own problems because their perception of reality is off by quite a bit.

Yeah man once you join an already established band, no matter how chummy you get, you will always be on the outside.

I got kicked out of my old band because I didn't click with a couple of the members so even though I was in there for over a year I was still 'the new guy' and expendable.

The other problem is also the people get this idea that bass players are easy to find and the moment you don't like the one you have, you return them and get a new one. At least where I am from, bass players are really hard to find and the band I am in spent ages looking for a bass player before they found me, yet they still treat the bass like crap.

I don't know all the dynamics, and maybe in their mind the vibe wasn't what they were hoping for. Just as likely though is that someone else, maybe even another longtime friend, became available so they wanted him.

That whole drum machine business, I dunno. Two years? Wow. But I've seen this before. Some musicians start to really dig that whole automated sterile clinical perfection, and then when they have to deal with a real drummer with real dynamics, and a real personality, some guys would rather not make the effort and go with the machine.

Sad but true. They may be addicted to the machine, and they may never be happy with a real drummer.

As I can see from the videos, the guitarist and bass player aren't really that tight. The feel is definitly not really in the pocket many times. However, this seems to be their problem and not yours ...
Maybe they feel these rhytmic problems too, but fail to see that they themselves are (at least partly) too blame, so they blame it on you?

You're definitly the steadiest one in the band though...
