My bands Craigslist for 2nd guitarist

I wonder if your existing guitarist would even respond to that ad had someone else written it?

I think you should rewrite that ad and give everyone who responds a chance. Sure, there might be a 22 year old dude with a razorback guitar, no job, poor, but has amazing playing skill and happens to fit the bill and then some and just because the ad's extremely picky and filters almost everyone out realistically, would never have a chance because of being so picky.

I agree somewhat with this too. We had one guy come out a couple times and it didn't work out. He was an AWESOME player too. The first night everything seemed to go ok. The only thing was he insisted playing through his rack effects an his tone was REALLY thin and tinny. He had a Mesa 50/50 head too and it totally killed it. Most of the time you can't really tell someone what kind of tone to have. THEIR tone is THEIR tone.

But by the second night he told us how he wanted to put together 40 covers and start playing out then work in originals slowly. We are in no hurry to just play out. Its just not what the rest of us are looking to do. That is sort of why the add is so specific. Harsh yes but why not just get right to the point?

The add was written by my guitarist who founded our newly formed band and has most of the ideas for our sound/songs. Meant to be humorous yet specific and to the point.

If all that crap is really important to you, you can find it out with a simple phone call, and a little respect. Hey, what kind of guitar do you play?

+ 1 on all the somments on nagativity. That post is spilling over with dont's and nos.

And I'll add that I think you guys are going to have a long long search ahead of you if you plan to be that specific in what you're looking for. People often bend and fit into a particular style after playing with a group for a short while. You might learn a bit and add some dimension to your sound if you found someone who didn't fit the mold so precisely. And you might find someone who would kick ass and be exactly what you want, but would take a week to realize his dean looked a little ridiculous. A simple, "We're really image conscious and have a vision for this band, would you be opposed to playing a different guitar?" might be all you need.

Good luck in your search. I would never even have finished reading the ad if I were a guitar player.

Just because you felt the need to ask our opinion on it makes me think maybe YOU should be looking for another band. Or perhaps just replacing the guitar player you have with someone with a better attitude. Just sounds to me like if it's not all about HIM it's only a matter of time before it will be.

You may want to think about that!

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone else on this thread. Your ad just makes the band look incredibly arrogant and negative. If you let your guitarist act as the spokesperson for the band, you're going to be looking for a 2nd guitarist for a very long time.
