All of this just makes me scared if our old house. The electronics are definitely "dirty" but no one has been shocked yet and I believe the ground works...possibly?

Not exactly. But "most" people who received electric shocks from mains power connected equipment would cease using it and get it thoroughly checked out and repaired if possible. I say "most", because there are obviously some people who are intent on ending their branch of the family tree and get offended when others point out the error of their ways.
