MY BONGO HAS ARRIVED!!!

am I the only one that thinks those things look horrible?
The looks are growing on me, and I just love the Lava Pearl. I mean, is anything really as ugly as the pickguard on the StingRay 5? I put up with it, but I definitely hate it. However, given the new dual pickup StingRays coming out this summer, I'm going to wait to buy a Bongo. The 24 fret thing is really something I might want, and the basswood I imagine will make the bass much lighter than the StingRays.

Well, It's good to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the same! I've never been a fan of pickguards. The only one I've always liked is the Stingray four string's, same as Bongo's (fortunately). Aside from that, I've been a pickguardless guy, and the Stingray 5 pickguard has always seemed hideous to me. Why couldn't the guys at EBMM put the same Stingray 4 pickguard on the 5 string?

I thought the same thing, until I bought one. Bongos are great instruments, and the Bongo 4 I bought recently exceeded my expectations in every way. It may not look pretty for all, but I gotta tell ya, the sounds it's capable of more than outweigh the "ergonomically challenged" look. In fact, it's very comfortable and fast (to me anyway) and the workmanship is top notch. My recommendation? Get past the looks and you'll find a great bass there. I did, and my Bongo has quickly become one of my favorites.

The guy worked hard to get his new bass, he likes it and I like it and if you don't, go wank on whatever it is you love, okay?

Grow some manners in a petri dish and I'll pay to help you have them transplanted.

Am I the only one that thinks if you don't like somebody's new bass, that you should stay out of the thread?

It's called an OPINION people....deal with it. I don't like how they look...MY OPINION. It's not like I'm on here calling the guy names or insulting him personally. OBVIOUSLY everyone isn't going to have the same taste in instruments, along with everything else opinionated....if you can't deal with it, go live in the woods a thousand miles from civilization

Well guess what, in civilization there is a thing called being civil... in real life were you standing next to this guy in the store and saw him make the purchase, would you go up to him and say, "man that thing is ugly." Nope, you would think it and just go on knowing it would have no effect on you. If you don't like it, don't say anything... no need to rain on this guy's parade. You want to state your oppinion start your own thread, though you'll find most people on this site (as in real life) don't take well to unnecessary negative comments.

edit: Forgot to congratulate you on the new bass, I know you'll enjoy it tons!!!

Reitero mis felicitaciones Alvaro.
Creo que has hecho una excelente compra.

(No dudo de tu alegria, pero igualmente luces algo tenso en la fotografia) :p

Well, in English (With your permission, Papersen):

"Congrats again Alvaro. I think you've made an excellent purchase.

(No doubt about your happiness, but at the same time you look tense in the picture)"

Well, I'm really, really bad at posing...

Show me how I wasn't being civil? I asked if there was anyone else who shared my *opinion* that the thing is ugly. I've never played one, so maybe they have awesome tone and playability...I never commented on this.

If the guy likes this bass...CONGRATULATIONS!! :hyper: I'm happy for him. Like I said before...I guarantee not everyone here likes the same things, as I stated my opinion on *looks only* about this bass.

Am I the only one here that thinks this is a public forum meant for correspondence? I don't care who it is...this may be a forum, but this concept applies for real life. If you can't deal with other people's opinions, you're in real trouble.

And show me WHAT was so bad about my first post? I said something about Bongos in general, and get *personally* attacked for it. It's not like I said this guy was ugly or stupid or whatever. That shows some real maturity.

Criticism is everywhere in the *Real world* and if you can't even deal with it here.......

No, man. It's a bass made by a local luthier. This guy builds very good basses for the price. This fretless has active electronics and he told me the brand when I bought it, but it was (still is) an obscure name to me and I can't remember it. No info about the woods either. It sounds good. Anyway, my goal for 2006 is a fretless desert gold HHP Bongo with black pearloid pickguard. :hyper:

P.S.: Thank you for your comments! :)

No ofence on this but "<- left" to "right->", and thats a bb75 walnut :D , congrats with the bongo. I love south america (cos i was born and lived till 14 there) so many laws to break so little money to pay :D .

And BTW when u log in you have to write your whole nick???even the accents?

In my opinion, your mother did a good job of raising a rude son.
