The looks are growing on me, and I just love the Lava Pearl. I mean, is anything really as ugly as the pickguard on the StingRay 5? I put up with it, but I definitely hate it. However, given the new dual pickup StingRays coming out this summer, I'm going to wait to buy a Bongo. The 24 fret thing is really something I might want, and the basswood I imagine will make the bass much lighter than the StingRays.yomchi247 said:

It may not look pretty for all, but I gotta tell ya, the sounds it's capable of more than outweigh the "ergonomically challenged" look. In fact, it's very comfortable and fast (to me anyway) and the workmanship is top notch. My recommendation? Get past the looks and you'll find a great bass there. I did, and my Bongo has quickly become one of my favorites.

Congrats on the Bongo!! I've heard great things about them...you gotta love the MusicMan sound! Have lots of fun experimenting with it. 
So cool to see all of your other basses too. I've only got one for now, but maybe someday I'd like to get a 5er.

Well guess what, in civilization there is a thing called being civil... in real life were you standing next to this guy in the store and saw him make the purchase, would you go up to him and say, "man that thing is ugly." Nope, you would think it and just go on knowing it would have no effect on you. If you don't like it, don't say anything... no need to rain on this guy's parade. You want to state your oppinion start your own thread, though you'll find most people on this site (as in real life) don't take well to unnecessary negative comments.
