My budget bass is eclipsing my main basses!

Love expensive basses but the most I ever paid for one was $1500, and it mostly sits in the stand in favor of my Fenders, which are nice basses but didn't cost nearly as much. I also have a couple really nice cheapo oddballs like a Chinese Danelectro Longhorn and an old Japanese Realistic violin bass from the 60's that get some play. But the $1500 one just doesn't sound as right for my bands these days as my Fenders or my oddballs. And as much as I love playing Sadowskys and Alleva Coppolos and the like, I can't bring myself to spend the kind of money they want for a Precision ;)

+1
I would love to have a precision and a jazz just because I want them. But the prices are so inflated! They have really strayed from what made them so ubiquitous in the first place which was value and consistent quality.

Maybe he thought your Fenders were American models?

I've had cheap and relatively expensive basses and have liked and disliked both. I used to have an Alembic Epic 5, a Ken Smith Burner 5, a Spector Euro 5, and others that I liked but was not particularly attached to. I currently have some basses including a U.S. SUB 4 string that is a serious go-to bass for me. The bass feels right, sounds right, looks good, and cost less than half what the other basses cost.
