I think I've gone about as far as possible towards a good Rockabilly rig without dumping the amp and cabs for a bigger amp and a fearFull cab. It's sounding and playing great. The Hydrives are light, punchy, plenty of low end, great click. Plus they are switchable 4 or 8 ohms.

Nice setup! How do you like those strings?

I was wondering the same thing. Tension wise, how do they compare to gut?

My rig will be the EA doubler and the new 1-12 cab they have. I'd like to keep the option of sometimes playing my electric open so I chose that. I've got the cab, just haven't ordered the head yet

How does your setup handle feedback?

  5. The strings are not high tension at all say compared to a steel string. Never played gut that much so I can't really compare.
I'd describe them as firm but soft on the fingers. Nice fundamental.
I don't have a problem w feedback unless I stand the bass directly in front of the cabs. A bit to the side and I'm fine.

Are the reds like the black rockabilly strings?

  8. Are you happy with the Carvin amp? Good acoustic tone?

  9. New setup: Gut-a-like 'Hebcat' strings, Channel Blaster pickup + pre amp, Glockenklang Passenger amp, Barefaced BigTwin2 cab.
Yesterday was my first gig with this setup and it was killer.
I especially like the Blast Cult pickup system, that you can dial in the pressure on the piezo with a screw; ingenious!
