Okay. Back to the Prunes and Custard.
I have not had so much fun with a pedal in a long time. This is really weird. It kinda is a complete synth chain in a single unit.
Gonna try and find a manual now, because I have no idea what anything does.

Okay. There simply IS NO MANUAL for the Prunes and Custard. I love that.
But I learned a thing or two. With the center knob all the way CCW, it behaves like a regular dirt pedal, with gain and volume.
The weirdness comes in the moment you bring in the mix knob.
Much like the Royal Jelly, you don't really have a lot of control over the mixed in component, but the top right switch does affect how it works.
Turn it all the way clockwise and I'm pretty sure you can use your bass to send a fax if you play the right notes.

. It definitely drags some lines out of me that I wouldn't think to play on anything else. It also does fun things into any sort of modulation. Running the Hot Cake into it seems to tame the weirdness slightly, which is interesting in itself.
Prunes & Custard is a pedal that I've wanted to try for a long time- I do wish it were smaller considering how relatively simple the circuit is (the main reason I've never picked one up). I should finally sell my 3-Leaf Doom that's been collecting dust and invest it into a P&C or (more likely) P&C clone- I've never really bonded with the Doom but everything I've ever heard from the Prunes makes me intrigued

yeah, i had the original but didn't care for its size or its side in & out jacks, so i built a clone in a 125B with all top jacks and sold the original. here's a pic of my clone:
Pretty nice! I do like it - also that you went for prune color instead of the original custard one.
If it is not a blatant betrayal of trade secrets or something, would you care to elaborate what the switches do exactly?
I have a feeling that the Guitar/Bass knob more or less only shifts the base frequency up and down, but what does the middle position do?
Also, I can easily detect that different things happen when you flip the contour switch - but I fail to analyze what happens there.
No-one go revealing the Eleusinian Mysteries, now ... I don't believe I've ever found the middle position between Guitar and Bass on the left-hand switch, but mine is older. I'll have to check when I'm home. Baritone, maybe?
Got home, checked it out, no centre position/G-spot on my pedal.It's ok, lots of guys can't find it.
Reminds me of a funny story — during my intern year at a hospital in Australia many moons ago, one of my colleagues was a chap with first initial G: poor guy was completely useless, made mistakes by turns hilarious and horrific, when he could be found not hiding from the nurses. I christened him G-spot on the basis that he could rarely be found, and it was never worth the hassle if you succeeded.
I just found that PedalPCB still stocks their boards for this, so I'll have to put that on my project list!
Nope, no limit mode on mine. Keen to find out what it does and whether it’s worth upgrading, although I hazard it won’t.
It seems our fearless leader is so enamoured of his new dessert pedal that he has no time for posting updates .
The Hooker’s Green didn’t stay on my board for long, the Modèle B again finding pride of place in that setting. However, I went to my usual acoustic jam session last night, and didn’t take the board to feed my little combo amp because it was hammering down and I didn’t want to carry more than necessary. I had planned simply to plug straight in (
), but had a brainwave. After I picked myself up off the floor, I stuck a battery in the pedal and popped it in the gigbag. It worked a treat in front of the little Orange 50 watter, filling out the low end without overwhelming the little guy and saturating everything nicely. I think I might need to try some of One Control’s other tiny amp in a box-type pedals — it looks like there are Acoustic 360, 70s SVT, and a Crimson one (not sure if that one is modelling a specific amp). All analogue, all tiny and battery powered, perfect for that application. I have the compressor from the same series, and it’s also nice, although not needed for that amp in that context.

The Crimson Onecontrol pedal is a simple affair. You either love it or hate it. I've had one for about a day, because the internet told me it might be a great preamp for reggae bass. If you ask me, It's a great reggae preamp for people that think reggae bass has to sound muddy and muffled.
Just so I understand this right - you stuck a battery into the Hooker's Green and took it? I don't think the Modele B has a battery option, does it?

.I listened to a Mike Hermans demo of the Crimson, which I liked, but it is possible that my favourite tones, with the gain (or “mud”) dialled back and the brilliance turned up a bit, are not so far from the Hooker’s. The 360 is a bit more interesting, perhaps.
That’s right — battery in the Hooker’s and perched it on top of the amp. The Modèle B does not have an internal battery option (although I guess there’s always that ungainly external adaptor thingy; not really my aesthetic). Those One Control pedals are a marvel for the footprint alone.
The Hot Cake and Prunes & Custard also take batteries, hmmm ….
I've opened the Crowther pedals because I wanted to look for hidden options (dip switches, trim pots) and saw the battery option.
The Hooker's Green was actually opened up by me because I saw the but shot on the Internet and wanted to see it with my own eyes.
But I've never had reason to look inside the Modele B while I had it, so I left it alone.
Also, I'm very sorry that I did some hinting about getting something that got @sloppy_phil pretty excited and then never mentioned it again.
The Parcel is taking ages, and I'm crawling up the walls every time the tracking does (not) update.
It should have been delivered yesterday, after being en route for one and a half weeks within Germany, but did not come, instead the tracking updated the ETA to today. I personally think, with this speed, it'll probably arrive Tuesday.
