Same here, but I realized it doesn't do vibrato which I use live now and then. How are you satisfied with Julia?

Julia actually works well for me.

My three practical applications for chorus are
1. Pump a synth chain into the chorus to make it wider and more lively. The Mobius in the aptly named "Widening" setting works great for that, but Julia also gets that job done.

2. There are a few intros I play where I pick chords higher up the neck. I use a big ambient reverb, some very mild drive and chorus to get that whole thing even more warbly.

3. In the metal band, I use the chorus set VERY wet, on the Julia I have lots of lag and the whole thing set somewhere between chorus and vibrato to create some oppressive, unpleasant atmosphere in silent parts.




It's just that I never have embarked on a large'ish chorus trek and Julia just feels a little Shudra-Caste to me. I've seen it on boards, rubbing shoulders with TC Electronics and EHX pedals, used by people who think that Boss and MXR are the apex of the pedal builder's art, like common peasants.


That Analogman can sound VERY wet from what I've heard.
You'll have to order it from buyanalogman.com if you want all the bells and whistles (top jacks, deep switch, mix knob) - and it's quite expensive. All that sounds a lot more Brahmin to me.

I'm eyeing the UAFX delay pedals which are made in Malaysia so I'm going to have to give Peterson tuners a green light, just in case I get a UAFX pedal so I can keep my "cork sniffer" membership card. Can't lose that card..

I'm not entirely sure. Malaysia is kinda cool, is it not?
They got tropical beaches, those rich and green jungles, but also that twin skyscraper with the bridge between the towers that got featured in so many movies I doubt they could get any real work done there in the late nineties.
It certainly is a step up from the People's Republic.

Hear hear! I have those same reservations about it (plus the led lights seem very bright, but I haven't tried it in person).

Analogman Chorus is awesome. It's my favorite. I got it from the classifieds and it had all the bells and whistles, top jacks, mix knob, and deep switch. It rarely comes up used in that config so I jumped on it.

It's the perfect chorus sound, can do classic and can get that seasick sound. My board is mono, so didn't need stereo. I really like how simple it is to dial in.

My next favorite chorus is the Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus, but it's huge with side jacks, so doesn't get much use.

I've had the Providence Anadime Bass Chorus, and that was no slouch either, and the Polytope was awesome, but realized I usually keep it to classic chorus sounds so most of the weirdness which it excels at was going to waste.

Yupp, not that easy.

The LEDs on the Julia are bright, but nothing you drag outside when the Germans fly overhead. Not blinding, but nothing you'd overlook. One is pulsing with the speed you set and will never stop doing that, the other is on/off.

Not sure if any of the manufacturers there stoop to anything as plebeian as a tuner, but some excellent options for other effects that I know some of you are acquainted with (past fx, Clinch fx, Echo Fix, and Mozztronics to name a handful).

I just ordered something from PastFX - apparently not posted today as it's a holiday for the Queen's birthday.
Which is slightly odd as I'm sure I remember her funeral and then the Kings coronation, but hey, I guess if they choose to stay a monarchy they don't want any poms getting pedantic with which Queen it might be.

Foster's is literally the worst beer made in Australia, and no one who lives there actually drinks it, or at least they didn't when I lived there. It is the prank Australia plays on the rest of the world.

So, about that predatory arachnid, as @sloppy_phil put it.

When you really go to town with the gain and depth knob, it kinda sounds artificial AF and that's not really what I dig from it. The Fake Plastic Trees has me covered there - and let's not forget there's gonna be a Doom2 in the mail soon.

But!
Choosing more civil settings with the gain below noon and using the depth knob the way Björn Juhl explained to me how he envisioned the usage of his version of that knob on the Blueberry - when you found your level of drive you set the knob so it's distributed evenly across all registers - I was really getting places. Nice ones, too!
The EQ needs a while to get used to, at least in my testing environment. It's not overly potent except for the treble knob, which totally is.

With the bass knob at just past noon, the mids knob more towards 3 o'clock and the treble set by ear (play and add until it's to harsh, then dial back one notch), the bass felt more solid even with the gain so low it does not really add drive yet. A good start.
Now, slowly increasing gain up to the point where you are able to hear the dirt on the decay, but not on the attack of the note, where double stops get a nice bloom, setting the depth knob as described above - I got a beautiful sound out of the unit. Smooth, but not creamy. Not custard, but puff pastry.
Sweet and a little brittle, frayed around the rearmost edges, but the heft and attack of the notes like being punched in the gut by someone who's really good at punching people in the gut - but wearing 16oz gloves instead of b(r)ass knuckles.
It reminds a bit of an oldschool amp that's driven just a bit too hard. Like you set it as far as it would go cleanly, and then add a bit more to get that last bit of volume out of it, not daring to go any further than that because you need it to last the entire show.
