My new Source Audio Collider has arrived! It's really nice. It's got all of my most used delays from the Nemesis but it has loads of really useful reverbs. I've mapped my 3 fav Nemesis patches onto my Collider already. The Analog Verb is just superb, it's astonishing how close this sounds to a real analog / bucket brigade delay, plus it's stereo! I really like the reverse delay and I use the Digital delay set for a cascading dotted 8th's. On the verb side, I'm really impressed. The Hall verb is pretty much an identical match for my H9's Hall. Which means I can use my last H9 has a trem or chopper more often. I can change the room size and pre-delay so it's very versatile. The Shimmer, again is pretty much a match for my H9's Crystals, although it needs bit of a specific dial in. True Spring, sounds and behaves just like the real thing. Same for the Plate. Edome...lol...that's just huge! The Swell verb is nice for ambient stuff. There's not much to match the H9's Black hole verbs (those are very unique and specific). However, I was surprised how varied and versatile these verbs are. For general verbs and ambient stuff, it's pretty epic, all in a tiny box. I can imagine the Ventris is even more bonkers versatile!

After living with the Collider for a month or so, I've come to realise that the tap delay beat divisions on the Collider are very different to the ones I have configured on my Nemesis, even though they are using the same code and engines.
I like to dial in 120 or 180 bpm via midi from my Boss ES-5 and that creates a rather frantic and fast delay line on the Collider. but the same BPM is rather nice on my Nemesis or Eventide H9's. On the Nemesis, I can dial in a "Tap 2 time ratio preset" of 1, on the Collider I have to disable it entirely which results in a different sound. If I choose "Quarter" and halve the beat sync to 60bpm I get a similar result to the 120bpm from all my other devices. Using this pace, I can only go as slow as 30bpm (effectively 60bpm on the rest of my board). Which is a bit limiting. It's fine for faster ambient delays where I'm trying to smear my sound, but not so good if I'm looking for a long delay for a Gilmor-ish lingering slow solo. So I think I should have chosen a Ventris all along. I'll be porting over some of the faster delay patches I've found on my Collider over to my Nemesis and I'll be using my Collider as a dual reverb. When the supply of Ventis units has stabilised in the UK, I'll flip it for one. The Reverbs are excellent.
So that's caused a large amount of pedal swap around on my board. Squeezing in my EQ2, Nemesis and Collider on my top row and relegating my much loved Lunar to the "under-croft".
Later in the year, I'll be flipping out my Boss ES-5 for a Morningstar MC-6. That will allow me to pull my Lunar to the bottom row. I might even have room for another small pedal...something like a Trem would be very nice!
So here's my current load out:

Actually...after writing all this...I found the correct "stereo Delay Option" : "Right = Left" on my Collider...that seems to do the trick!
There's number of mint S/H Ventris pedal about at the moment in the UK. So I might flip my Collider for one. I really like the Collider, but I think I'm more suited to the expanded pallet of options that the Ventris and Nemesis combo offers.

I've recently being chasing down a nightmare grounding noise. I finally tracked it down to the Midi path. Some of the Midi "chatter" was bleeding through my audio signal. After a lot of investigation, I tracked it down to my Boss ES-5's midi Clock out signal....it's REALLY noisy! A bit later I was pondering this and I was thinking what would happen if I put one or two of my pedals back into it's loops again. Not like before where I had 5 pedals in loops, I'm just thinking of 2 loops, One for my Hog2 and one for my C4 > Atlas > Ultrawave > Spectrum. This would re-utilise the Boss ES-2 buffers and give me this option of moving my Hog 2 out of my chain when I'm not using it.
Well the upshot is a dead quiet audio path...no midi chatter, with or without the ES-5's Midi / beat clock sync.
So I'm kind of happy...I'm wondering why the ES-5 wasn't designed with the possibility of acting as a pure midi device with no loops.

With the release of the new Eventide H90, I think that some big changes are coming to my board for 2023. Maybe my biggest pedal revision to date, certainly since I went mostly stereo.
My current plans are to sell my Eventide H9 core and H9 Max, that's going to be hard. this will partially fund a new Eventide H90. This will be split into two routes, replacing my two H9's.
Then I'll sell my Source Audio Aftershock (which is sitting on my shelf not doing anything) and maybe sell my Source Audio Lunar too. That will help bridge the price gap between the H9's and H90. I'll let the H90 pickup my modulation needs for a while. I will side-grade / swap my Source Audio Collider for a Ventris.
The next big change will be selling my long term Boss ES-5 looper / Switcher / midi Controller and replacing it with a Morningstar MC-6. I'm hoping Source Audio will relase a new Multi Modulation pedal in 2023 too.
Then I can re-model the board to make every thing fit! So more woodwork will be required. Once I have my pedals set for the next few years...I can think about re-finishing the board!

I'll go right across with the top panel and use 5 SA pedals in that row.

Lol....everything that is on my wish list for 2023 is current out of stock / unavailable / 3 month back log. Lol...component shortages in the UK are hitting crazy levels. You may have the cash...but there's nothing to buy! Source A udio Ventris...3 month lead time in the UK, even the used supplied have dried up. Oh well...i'l have to "put up" with my Collider and Nemesis! What hardship

For me, 2023 starts with the same load out that ended 2022. However, I am about to swap out my long term Boss ES-5 for a Morningstar MC6. Hopefully my order will going into Morningstar in the next week or so. This will allow me to free up some valuable board space, which is reserved for a Source Audio Ventris. These are currently out of production, but about to start up a limited run in the new year. Which gives me some time to flip my ES-5 and SA Collider. Hopefully by Easter both of these will be purchased and integrated onto my board.
But the big layout change that I'm planning can't occur until my H9's are swapped out for a H90. That's going to take a while, looking at the UK market / supply...that's not likely until Autumn! Maybe even 2024 if the national news is to be believed with the threat of recession.

A Morningstar MC-6 is ordered to replace my Boss ES-5. End of an era and the start of a new one for my board.
Back in the day when I was putting this board together, the ability to change pedal order was important to me. Fast forwards to today, my board load out is so well organised to my use case scenarios I have little use to change pedal order anymore. The extra cabling (heavy, cumbersome and expensive) is also no longer required. I do most of my device on/off and patch switching from a midi controller. I've been using my Boss ES-5 as a pure midi controller for over a year and I've been quite happy with it. But the MC6 is a LOT smaller and compact, it's cost neutral (I can sell my ES-5 for a similar price to a new MC6). It's easier to juice and easier to cable. I just need a power feed and a pair of Midi cables. No more in out's and internal buffers on the ES-5. I also gain a pair of Expression pedal inputs where as I only have one on my ES-5 (a serious oversight by Boss). However, these two inputs will never replace the versatility of the rumoured / leaked Source Audio Reflex II.

Today is an end of an era and the beginning of another. My new Morningstar MC6 has arrive direct from Morningstar. It's on my board and I've levered out my very long Boss ES-5. I really didn't think this day would come!

I used to have an MC6 on my board. But I found the switches to be too close together for my feet (sometimes in the heat of the moment, i'd accidentally hit two switches at once.) I was also using one switch as a page toggle but I decided to go with the MC8 ultimately. The switches are slightly more spaced out and I still use one switch as a page toggle. I think the 4 Omni Ports were also a big selling point since I'm using some Chase Bliss pedals and a Red Panda Context 2 so TRS to MIDI has been a big help.
