I suppose to play devils advocate I should suggest that it is possible that the drummer is either trying to start something or just misunderstood the guitard.

If you are able to rule out both of those then I suggest making fun of your guitard behind his back about something that isn't wrong with his tone.

Dedicated guitarists sometimes have funny ideas about bass. I know a talented guitarist who thinks all bass cabinets should be 4 ohms only, and that you need 300 watts to be heard (making no distinction between SS or tube or how many cabs of what kind are being used). Some also have odd ideas about fingers vs. picks and 4 vs. 5+ strings, but those have been discussed to death among bassists as well.

My drummer kept saying to me to turn my effects own a little, so I did as I also thought that the fuzz could be downstepped slightly. I then ask him to lay of the double bass and I just waited for that moment where you can see his little brain trying to tick over on what has just been said, before seeing something die a little inside at the though of less double bass.

I really don't know how to deal with drummers; the guitards I can deal with becasue I can show them stuff and they 'kind of' understand how things should match, but the drummer just tries to make something as fast as possible and just keeps playing when everybody else is trying to have a conversation or practice a riff, etc.

It just really gets on my nerves that he can't understand that communication is not done with drums anymore
