they're called Dean's connectors (for RC planes and helicopters) and you can get them at any decent hobby shop.

Paint it red, make it to be a late 90's model (2eq) and give it a rosewood fingerboard... and you have my bass :')

i just finished the electronics mod where i installed a trim pot to be able to balance the bass's output when it's switched into the series mode. i had to replace the 2-pole rotary switch with a 3 pole one to do it, but it was simple. now, when i click thru the different pickup settings, there are no noticable jumps in volume levels, just different tonal changes.

i couldn't be happier with the results of making a new body for this bass. the Nordstrand MM4.4 will be here tomorrow, and i'll install a solderless quick connector on it so i can just pop it in in a couple of minutes. with the MM4.4, it'll be dead silent in all three modes.

i'd like to add that while not only did the lighter weight body add more resonance/fullness to its sound and got rid of the dead spots, i'm also VERY pleased with the 3 way switch mod. in the split and series modes, it removes ALOT of the clackiness and phasy tones of a stingray. and this is a mod that can be performed on any MM SR.

good news: its brand new nordstrand MM4.4 pickup showed up today.
bad news: one of its four coils is bad (open) so i didn't get a chance to install or try it and shipped it to nordstrand for replacement.

since i couldn't try it with the nordstrand pickup, to get an idea of what the 3-way switch sounds like with the stock musicman pickup, i made a quick recording of it in the three modes (please excuse the clams, but you'll get the idea). the first part is with it in the parallel (stock) mode, after a very short pause, the second part is in the split mode, then another short pause and then it's in the series mode.

to listen to it, please right click the file and 'save as' to save it to your computer and play it, rather than clicking on it multiple times and playing it directly from here (to save my bandwidth!)
