My ex-wife bought me a bass and my freedom!!!

Well, I guess she didn’t buy me my freedom, I kind of did that. And yes, I had to give her a lot of money, but now I can buy whatever the hell I want!

Plus, around here, you have to be divorced at least once to play in a dad band...so I have that going for me.
Haha, I'm married with 3 boys, and I can buy anything I want...as long as I willing to take the heat : ) They really should call it the J house instead of the doghouse. Cause I am always in that sucker.

I would love to have been married for years and years, but I tried it with the wrong women. Both cheated on me, then both left me very shortly after their affairs. Talk about getting a complex! But I was much freer to play and buy basses as I saw fit, so I was much better off.

My current girlfriend of 18 years kinda went through the same thing before we met. Us being together made us realize the failed marriages weren't our fault. And she met me when I wasn't playing at all, but she loves the newly-revived playing career. She hasn't bought me any basses or gear, but since she makes a lot more money than I do, she helps me buy something I need if I don't have the funds on hand and pay her back. Her interest rates and loan duration times are awesome!

We may get married some day, but we love the phrase, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"....

Together with my wife for 14 years... 2 kids, 2 very different bands, ±2 or 3 gigs a month and ±2 weekly rehearsals. Very supportive, and she is the one that was sad when I had to sold a few instruments to fund a buy-in tour in Europe. She encourages me to by a new EUB and a Bass IV with my gig money, and wants me to buy my kid a guitar for it's birthday since he shows interest in playing music.

Could not be happier :)

Same wife for 29 years, she asked me why I need another bass, I asked why you need another pair of shoes. I take her shopping every time she notices a new bass (after I healed from the verbal beating) . I'm up to 7 basses, 2 guitars , 2 keyboards, 3 PA's, 5 amps and a Harley (and numerous other expensive hobbies). Happy wife , happy life.

Ah, that explains why I've never been invited to join a dad band: I'm a lifelong bachelor.

Butt they all seem like keepers for first few years.
"What red flags, Mom and Dad? I don't see any red flags. Oh, hang on a sec..."
(Story of my life.)

My estranged wife (we're not divorced yet) bought me a bass and a guitar during our time together. I don't have any of the above anymore. But I'd give up anything and everything in the world for her to have never left.
