I am, too, even though I'm really enjoying my Quads.

However, the little EQ response chart they list is a little worrisome. The low end is quite accented, more so than the Quads, and the highs are less than the Quads. Of course, there's no telling if these charts are very accurate.

Still, I'm certainly thinking about them...:D

So I just send a text about that and he sez he paid $200 for the rush job. Had them in a week once they got his impressions. Well, he was in a fairly urgent need for them....

I use the V6 Stages and love them. But remember: the Quads and the V6s have identical pairs of speakers for the lows. The Quads have a pair of mics covering mids and highs, while the V6s have a pair of mics for the mids and another pair for highs. That's why the V6s are more balanced overall but provide identical coverage for the low end as the Quads.

I bought the V6s because I also use them for mixing. If it's strictly for live play as a bassist, the Quads are adequate and provide identical coverage of lows as the V6s.

The marketing collateral says the V8s provide TWO pairs of mics on the lows. To me that is total overkill. As a mixer there is no way you'd want to overemphasize the lows like that. Even as a live performer, two pairs on lows is overkill. If you want to nudge the mix emphasis on bass, simply boost the bass EQ (or cut the mids/highs). I just don't get the purpose of the V8s except to suck more money from our wallets.

Got mine last week, right on time (5 weeks). I used them for our Easter services. I never really got a great seal and when I did it broke easily with the slightest movement of my jaw. I called 1964 on Monday, sent them the Quads for a refit, and I should have them back on Monday. Great service. I'm anxious to get them back and really hear how good these things can sound. Even with a weak seal in my ears I was hearing clarity that I've not heard before with other IEMs.

I had that issue with one ear of my 1964 Quads, but I'm using mine on a steady basis and I absolutely hated the idea of sending them for a refit and doing without them, even thought they suggested that I do so.

While talking with them, I asked if there might be something I could try in the meantime to keep the seal from breaking. They suggested trying the Comply Soft Wraps that are used for hearing aid fit adjustments. It's a long thin foam strip with really good adhesive that wraps around the canal part of the mold. I searched and found them on the, where else, the internet, but they may be available at a local hearing aid store. I paid $10 for a package of 20 of them. They saved the day! They have solved my fit problem, which could be my fault, anyway. The fit is great and the seal does not break at all. and it's not uncomfortable. One lasts about a month before it gets nasty and I need to change it.

I see no need at all to send the molds in for a refit, although I'm changing ear doctors when I get the next set of impressions made.

I read all the way through this thread yesterday and show up to play on the Worship Team this morning at one of the churches I play at and what do I get handed to me? A list of prospective IEM's the the sound guy and another bassplayer put together. Hummmmmm. And they say God works in mysterious ways.

Now I've got to budget me some '64 Quads! They already lined up an Audiologist for $25 molds. Hummmm. Again.
