My experience with Divine Noise

I played at a local dive bar a couple months back in mesa, AZ with a band that i was filling in for. i typically like to be there for the whole time to help support local music. the band after us has a guitarist that was using white cables. i had wanted to find a manufacturer of quality white cables since i finished my warmoth bass back in november but could not find anything in a google search. i waited for their set to end and promptly asked the guy about his cable. he said that i was from Divine Noise. a small company out of oregon that hand makes their cables. he showed me the cable and said it was the best cable he had used. i inspected it... it was thick, malleable, and easily cleaned. after the set i went straight home and looked up this company

I use Mogami cables currently. i had used monster in the past but when i was told about mogami and heard the difference i did not think i would use any other cable. the fact that this is a small business and the owner hand solders and hand cuts all the cables AND that he had them in white mad me want to try them out. i just got some money for this cable for my birthday so i took the plunge into the unknown. i had no idea what it would sound like. boy was i pleasantly surprised. i just got the cable yesterday. I came MUCH sooner than quoted (thanx Mrs. Divine :hyper: ) and was wrapped in paper with a special note to me. never have i had such great service (except from Nordstrand, those folks are great too!) i was very curious about the sound. it looked fabulous and felt awsome but the sound is the most important part. I love my tone and was very scared that this would negativly effect it. I can easily hear the difference between a cheep-o cable, a monster cable, and a mogami cable. but i sware to you i can not hear the difference between the Divine and the mogami. for 5$ less than the mogami i got 5 more feet, 2 right angle ends, white jacket, and a silent plug... and it is made in the USA by a guy that really cares about his product up in Oregon.

I will be replacing all my instrument cables with Divine Noise cables. I back this company 100%.... Who am i you ask... just a working musician that loves to play and loves his tone and loves these cables!

Thanx Gil! i love your product!

oops.... totally forgot to add my photos

Those looka like some cables.

From the perspective of someone who knows how to make cables I have a hard time understanding people who don't roll their own and why they see one cable as being particularly better then another from a sonic perspective.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know of a blind test that has been done to see if we actually hear the difference in most cables or if it's placebo, combination of both maybe???

I have never heard the difference between two cables personally, some are built better and last longer, but I have never experienced an audible sonic difference.

I have (once) but that was between a very cheep one (brand unknown) and a cable made from coaxial cable.

Coaxial is stiff as hell and pretty poor for a bass to rig application but it does pass more signal as it would seem.
Although the difference still seems marginal and I wonder if it wasn't just my brain playing a trick on me when I a/b'd.

I'm sure they are good but I'll stick to buying bulk cable and connectors "hand cut and hand soldered" by me in my garage. Just buy cable of whatever quality you want from Markertek or another supply house and add the connector of your choice. Seriously it takes all of 10 minutes to build one of these. Save money and still have good quality. Plus you can do custom lengths and colors.

Most of us have the majority of these tools just from having to do minor guitar tech type repairs, or even just string changes...

The only major difference I've heard is microphonics due to poor shielding of some brands. If you hear noise when you move the cable, that's microphonics. Most cables you can get these days don't have that problem.

If you can't hear the difference between a cheepo, a monster, and a mogami cable then there is something wrong with your ear holes. I have done blind tests between the the 3 and the mogami wins every time. I did a nonblind test between the mogami and DN and I could not hear a difference so obviously there is no placebo effect. If you want to make your own cables then that's is great for you. I am just giving my opinion about a great little company I found. If you have no comment about the company or review or product don't bother responding. Your "I'm better than you because I can make my own cables" attitude stinks and is in welcome. I have been soldering since I was 7. I can make cables all day long but I appreciate the small business and quality of the product so I have expressed my support.

First which of us is this directed towards?
(fyi you can quot and multi quote using the buttons in the lower right of each post)

Second if you didn't want to see people post their opinions on making their own verses buying pre made in a thread you started about cables all you had to do was say so and now that you have for that matter I will choose to drop the subject. (in this thread)

You know I've read threads before where the Op asks for something and inadvertently gets something slightly different and I've seen this go two ways;
One the Op get's upset because they didn't get what they wanted and,
Two the Op clarified what they wanted so that we now understand and the Op got what they came for.

Third, my perception is not always going to fall in line with your perception thus I'm not particularly feeling the "I'm better than you because I can make my own cables attitude"

What I got was that there are some folks here that are genuinely trying to help others save money and be more informed.
But hey if that's what you got out of it, it's your prerogative so I can respect that and apologize for my post even though I perceived it in a different manner.

Forth no one wants to listen to someone who is upset/seems upset if you want something, like for example for this thread to just be about Divine Noise try asking nicely.
When you say things like;
If you can't hear the difference between a cheepo, a monster, and a mogami cable then there is something wrong with your ear holes.
and
If you have no comment about the company or review or product don't bother responding. Your "I'm better than you because I can make my own cables" attitude stinks and is in welcome.
People are going to get the impression that you're not very stable and that your opinions and as well your request is less valid.
Remember the old saying you get more flies with honey then you do with vinegar.

Last I should clarify on my first post here in regards to blind testing I wanted to see if anyone had actually documented such a test not just been there done that but been there done it and have the proof to show for it.
Because that would be pretty cool.

Like I said before I have a hard time understanding (as in boutique cables) but note that I'm not saying I'm opposed to learning more.
That's why I'd love to see a definitive test.
I'm pretty scientifically driven, so much so that when I hear even what sometimes seems like a large difference in tone I question it, I question just about everything.

I did not ask a question. I gave a review of my experience. The thread was hijacked by multiple folks (that is why I did not quote anyone specifically) saying that do anything other than making your own cables is foolish. I was trying to let folks know about a good company that they should check out here in the US and people were talking about a completely different subject.

Now lets remove our last couple posts so that the tread can get back on line.

No, this is a public forum, just because you started the thread does not mean you own it. You have no control over anything that anyone posts in this thread, no matter how much you act like a jerk.

You can fool yourself all you want, there is no audible difference between any instrument cable made of quality materials.

Oh yeah you're right I just went back and re-read your earlier post and you didn't ask a question you gave us a demand to not post about making our own cables here.
Sorry I had the two confused.
Who called you foolish, can you quote that, cause I'm not seeing it?
Further more going from hey check out Divine Noise they're pretty Neato to I make my own cables is not going into a different subject we're still talking about cables.

Also please use an edit program when you post.
Your posts are pretty hard to read so much so that I'm not sure I even fully understand the one above here.

I'll say it again you get more flies with honey then vinigar.
You can't demand things of people and expect them to do it you have to ask nicely.:)
