My Father's Fender Pro Reverb

Yep: I got it repaired, bought an MiJ Strat, and learned to play a little. But I will say—just to give an update—that I have been playing bass through this amp for almost 3 years now. I use it hooked up to a 2x10 loaded with Basslite S2010s. It's bright, clean, and surprisingly loud. It's exactly my kind of sound. I was going to put the amp in a head cabinet so that I can use it elsewhere, but I decided that it was a little too important to me to use outside of the house. I broke down last night and bought another amp with less sentimental value.

Well, I've done plenty of both - so no argument from me.
Another consideration, if you're not all that familiar with his old amp... maybe actually put in some replacement bass amp speakers. With that open back, it would have sounded pretty anemic, but in the 50/60s, not much was known about cab design and porting. May it suited his volume and tonal needs perfectly.
BTW, I just sold my 65 Pro Reverb for $2900 ebay. I owned it since I was 16, and I don't miss it a bit; never could liked the tone of Fenders, even with Reverends and good tubes, too tinny and HF, not enough mids.

I think it might've. I would've been in a better place to switch to a horn-loaded 2x12 after that, too. Oh well. The cookie crumbles the way it does.
Yeah, messing around with this Pro Reverb taught me that I'm the opposite. I play bass, but I love those upper harmonics. I'm always trying to get a little more upper midrange treble out of my setup without sounding too harsh. It's like my bass has a sock stuck inside of it, and I'm trying to yank it out!

keyofnight, Try playing through a fEARful 15/6 cab someday; you'll mess yourself. I did, and immediately built two.
