No this is not in the wrong forum. It's a group project -- because I'm too lazy to finish it and because I don't know anything about DB strings.

I figure those who really know the terrain ought to be able to tack on a bunch more verses. So write your own verse and add it to the end.

Anyway, here is my start on "My Favorite Strings" to be sung to the tune, of course, to "My Favorite Things" from R & H "Sound of Music":

    My Favorite Strings

Velvets for jazzers and Flexos for classics
Spiros project well and guts are elastic
Thomastik Mittels will make your bass sing
These are a few of my favorite strings.

When the GAS bites or my sound stinks, intonation's bad.
I simply remember my favorite strings and look in the for-sale ads

    :meh:

    Cheap Obligatos and Evah Pirazzis
DD's and Gamuts for gut purist nazis
Animas that make my poor wallet go "schwing"
These are a few of my favorite strings

Shopping for bass strings is driving me crackers
Maybe I'll just go and buy some weed whackers
Why couldn't I just have learned how to sing?
Then I'd have no need for all of these (*!$#+#) STRINGS

Frogs on green basses make strings wet and sticky
Unwinding eudoxas, oh boy what a pity
Better try eurosonics made of plastic
They feel like gut and sound also fantastic

My girlfriend wonders why I go so nutty
but these eurosonics feel just like putty
every two months the postmaster brings
a brandy-new package of my new favorite strings

    they don't bow right
    they can't slap well
    and the pizz just stinks
I'll look up in talkbass and see what toad thinks
    and then it won't be
    so bad

Then there are players who use only Spiros
Year after year they just watch as the time goes
"Sound's in your fingers and not other things,"
Say all these folks with just four fave-rit strings!

    When the sound bites
    When the gig stinks
    When they're feeling sad
They simply remember that it's their own fault
And they they will feel . . . so bad!

Heliocore Orchestrals need to be crisper
Without Obligatos, and guts, I might get a blister
Send me some strings that are a dream to play
And I sure hope they last ten years and a day

Geeze, I missed this the first time around. Nice work. I would think that with a nod to Sound of Music, this song needs to resolve in favor of Austrian string makers.

As for corrupted XMas Music, I've been singing to my 4 month old and because I don't always know the right lyrics and because I'm a bit of a wiseass, this is what he's bound to grow up thinking is the bridge to "Winter Wonderland":

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he is Clifford Brown,
He'll say "bring your axe and you can blow man,
You should sit in when you come through town."

    Later on we'll conspire,
As we sit in the diner...

And so on. I know, he'll grow up thinking I'm a dork and he'll have a point.

Prices have gone through the roof so I reckon
Spiro cores from year two thousand still beckon
Gig after gig and not one's broken yet
Just one more year and I'll try a new set
