My First Bass was a Coronet

Back in the early 70's I bought a Coronet branded SG style bass, Now, a gazillion years later, I'd love to re-visit it, however. I've not found anything remotely resembling it. Today, I did another search and came across Invalid Link Removed it's not a Bass, but the body style, and (surprisingly) the colour are spot on. Has anyone ever seen a bass version? I wonder what one would be worth today and whether they are as good as my memory thinks.

I was given a Rickenbacker to try out an amp back in the day, and I preferred my Coronet if that says anything....

Coronet was an Australian import marque; elsewhere, that distinctive, sculpted SG/EB-style body was seen on Japan-made instruments branded e.g. Jedson and Zenta.




Also, the downsized 1971 Vox product line included the SG200 bass, which didn't even have a logo on the headstock.

Reviving to add some info. As mentioned, the Vox SG200 had no branding on the headstock. From whatever factory made them in Japan, they popped up in Aussieland with Coronet,Jedson, Bolero branding . Based on the selling price of 47 Pounds mentioned in the linked article for the SG200, the Coronet may have retailed for 117 Australian dollars in 1971, which would be the equivalent of 1500 or so today. A Gibson EB3 would have set you back around 270-290 Aussie dollars (3800 in todays coin) in 71 .So the Coronet was, not suprisingly, considerably cheaper
