Maybe I'm confused - are they piping in the track and they want you to play something over it? Or do they want you guys to come up with a musical accompaniment based on that track? Like @mambo4 said, there's already a bass line there - mostly a lot of whole notes on synth, but it's in the bass register. If the track is playing and they want more, I'd say go high and melodic. If it's just you, then you need those roots in the music, and I would focus on touches to add some flair rather than just hanging the whole notes out.

What I hear ---- R-3-5-rest, flat and smooth. Follow the changes. Nothing more. You mentioned a track. Track of what?

I meant that there won't be a live drummer, just the drums on the recording(track).

I'm sorry I didn't specify, but we will be playing, and they're going to add the drums from the track.

Sooooooo; my friend and band-mate (guitarist) told me that his older brother and his rap group needed a guitar and bass duo for 4 songs of the 15 or so they'd be playing at a small bar in April. Obviously, it would be rap, which I despise, but I'll do it for the experience and to help my friend out. Problem is, 1 out of the 4 songs has no bassline, and they want me to make one up. I have never written anything music-wise before, so I don't know what to do!! I have some knowledge of chord tones and such, but nothing to deep. What should I do? (Here's the song the want me to add to)

One option is to find a simple groove and just keep it going over the track. This is rehearsal song we did, playing Jill Scott's "Love Rain Down". Just find a part that fits in. Ultimately you want to stay out of the way of the spoken word and follow the changes.
