Hiding an extra adventure, is however a form of love.
She loves you but got bored of "making love" with the same man ...everyday.
This happens also to a man, that loves the wife, but tries a couple of extra experiences [paid or not] in the lifetime, maybe with a 20 years strip-girl, just in memory of those old days?

The worst thing really is when she clearly "tells" you that is going to leave home, and going to live with another man and that she loves him. So hiding "something" is not really so bad in the end.

View attachment 3561586I've been plucking away at an SG300 for the last couple of months and decided that this is something I want to pursue. So I'm going deep down the rabbit hole....

Every once in a while, you see something and your brain just clicks "that's it!". I saw someone playing an Aerodyne on YT and had that moment. I finally found one on Reverb that went for a decent buck, made a cheeky offer and settled on a decent price.

I thought that SG300 was not half bad, but this thing makes that SG feel like a 9 bob note. It came strung with some flatwounds, but I think they are played out. I got a set of roto sounds for it, but now I'm thinking of going with some Sunbeams or Pure Blues.

I admit, I have never been a fan of black guitars... But I now have this, a Geddy on order, and I am looking at a black-top P-Bass this weekend. The benefit here being I may be able to pass them all off to my wife as the same instrument....

When I was in high school I had a Squier CV jazz that I would play on and off but after graduating it was just sitting around. Got serious about playing again a few years ago and that same Aerodyne was my first ‘professional’ bass. It was a 2014 CIJ one I got in a pawn shop.

After buying that, I went kinda nuts buying and selling basses.

Always wanted to play one of those aero basses, they're really good looking instruments. Congrats on your purchase!

On a side note, that's one of the major bummers of playing UB. You can't exactly hide them from your wife. And even when she knows you're getting another it's not the money, it's where are you gonna store the damn thing, lol. I have a pretty big master bedroom, and now it's got a piano, two uprights, a guitar, etc stuffed into it. I just asked my wife about a third bass and she said "Can you live in it?", which I took as a no.......

The Aerodyne and SR300 are both great basses, built for different sounds and different needs, no need to be ashamed of the Ibanez. Congrats on the Fender though, very nice looking!

That's exactly the bridge I was looking at. Was it an exact drop in?

IDK. a few years back My friend got a MIJ Aerodyne off ebay.
My friend was very impressed at the over all "look", and decided to "upgrade his aerodyne because I pointed out how cheap & frail the oem fender bent plate bridges looked(i hate them!). I convinced him to go with a beefier Highmass or BA type bridge, But upon removing the original bridge from the aerodyne. we found that it's inset (flushmounted) into the body. the depth of the bent plate it seems like routed into the body.we installed the new bridge any way, but I was concerned about "coupling" since the new bridge would not be in contact with the body where the old bridge( footprint) was. but since the mounting screws lined up the new bridge installed easily, except for the inset space under it. That really bugged me. I thought about it & i guess you could shim it, fill the inset using the old bridge plate as a template. But,That really curbed my enthusiasm to get an Aerodyne for myself.
I 've always really hated fenders cheap looking bent plate bridges! I've replaced all the bridges on my fenders for more substantial(beefy) bridges. i'm glad to see Fender is finally upgrading to high mass bridges on their newer models! Their Aerodynes are so streamlined & ergonamically designed, I guess they thought flush mounting the bridge to the finely contoured body was necessary. so you can replace the oem bridge,but IDK what effect it has on your tone. it didn't seem to effect my friends bass at all, and it looked more heavy duty too!.GL

Ha! Even if she's as blind as a bat, her sense of smell is at least 500% keener than yours. As long as you're shopping, you might as well see if can find a can of "New Bass Scent."

So do you like the black now, or the fact that your wife thinks they are all one guitar? There's the one day she's going to ask, why do you have 6 cases and only 1 guitar?

Don't hide things from your wife. When (not if) she figures it out, your trust is broken. It's binary. You either ARE the kind of person who would hide things from her or your are NOT. Period. There's no "kinda". There's no "No big deal cuz it was just a bass". She will, of course, wonder what else you have hidden from her.

Nice looking bass - congrats. I don't recall seeing too many Jazz basses PJ picup configuration. Usually the other way around (PJ configuration on a Precision style bass). I've come across the P-basses with PJ config and a Jazz style neck, but not usually the Jazz body. But I don't know all that much about what's out there in this wide world.

I've always liked the finish and look of the Aerodynes. Very nice choice.

And if it has flats on it, they're probably still good. Flats last nearly forever.

I'm not above sneaking a new instrument into the basement (just because I'm mildly embarrassed about having GAS), but if my wife straight up asked me about it, I wouldn't lie to her. Luckily she has never given a s**t what I do with my money and I have never given a s**t what she does with hers.
