My first relic job

I would never take a blow torch to my bass...or sand it to make it look like it was used more than it really was. I think that more members should frown upon this crap. Protect a pure and innocent bass that has been unmolested.

Interesting how ideals change, we have threads where people are praising burning and beating new basses but there's another thread where a guy is being called stupid and blasphemous for changing pickups to his taste.

you guys are completely ********. Nobody asked what you would personally do to the bass, or what you think about relics. Who cares if you dont like it, thats why its not your bass. NO need to come on here and be an @$$hole to the guy. You should take more time to practice instead of writing threads on here about how you simply dont like what someone did to their bass. Typically the ones who talk to most suck the most.

I'm always surprised when I see the paint completely worn off especially at the bottom of the bass. I think, how can it wear so much at that location? Jaco's bass was a phenomenon not the norm. Relic to me is a few scratches, fading and inconsistent colouration etc, not barbequed.

Sorry

Seriously though, that guy is a bit of an "@$$hole" himself (long story short, fake "fenders", ebay).

And lets face it he was putting his work out on a public forum people are bound to criticise and make observations/voice opinions. It'd be a pretty boring forum if that didn't happen IMO.

The OP clearly stated, "I'd appreciate your input on how I did." Although I agree that people don't need to be a-holes to the guy, he did ask for opinions on how the work he did. It would also be a good idea to practice what's preached, IMHO.
