My First Rig for $200 CAD ($150 USD)

G-K MB200 + Ampeg 610 = $200 CAD.

I think I did okay... ;)

It took a super heavy drummer with a Ludwig Bonham kit to outrun my 200 watt Gk 400RB. 200 good watts through a 610 should cover most sane uses.

However, Traynor is mass appropriate being Canadian! Rock it!

im currently enamored with a 400rb thats backline at this joint i play. Im amazed at how much ass that old amp carries. its loud enought against a marshall half stack somehow and sounds great, albeit it isnt clean, but the hair on it is sexy.

Stupendous! Much more than the vast majority of situations would require, and it’s highly unlikely people could differentiate between 300w and 500w bit good to have a small spare. That little GK is shockingly good.

Is it really your 1st rig? Given your excellent contributions in the Strings forum, I’d guess you’d be closer to a 10th rig.

Enjoy.

Oh man, where are you shopping?????
There's no deals like this in Montreal :bawl:

I might as well tell you the whole story...

GK MB200... This is the unit I purchased back in 2013 as part of my quiet home practice setup when I started playing in church. Something compact and light-weight with a headphone jack and an auxiliary audio input for playing along with the songs I was learning. My intention was to find a nice cab to go with it eventually, but I ended up selling it to another bassist from my church in 2018.

Back in January of this year, there was an unfortunate incident of a break-in at one of the church campuses I play at regularly and they had the amp head (SVT-3Pro) stolen, leaving the big cab without an amp. They told me they had no intention of spending the money to replace the amp as they didn't feel they really needed a big rig like that. That's when I decided to contact the guy I sold my MB200 to 11 yrs ago and asked him if he was still using it. He said no, so I offered to buy it back from him for $100 and he said sure!

Meanwhile, when I asked the pastor at the church what they intended to do with the cab, and he told me he wanted to "put it away" or "just get rid of it". I offered to buy it from them for $100, and he said sure!

I really don't think I'll ever find a deal like this ever again!

I'm largely a church bassist and the four church campuses I play at regularly all have a full PA support, so I've invested in a couple of combo amps to use on stage as my personal monitors, but not a full rig like this one as I've never needed anything like this for what I do. This particular rig was there only because my current church inherited it from the previous church they took over the building from several years ago as one of their multi-site campuses.
