Double Bass My Fishman Full Circle 1/4" Jack buzzes

I'm using a George L cable. The connection isn't tight, for on my open A I can get a buzz going - at the jack - that unfortunately translates to the speaker. I *could* change cables, but, I like my thin custom George L. I've opened up the FC jack and there's no access to tighten the connection. It's as though the George L spec and FC jack just aren't 100% compatible.

Anyone else have this problem?

I know what you're talking about. The FC pup comes with a cable that has a rubbery jack which doesn't rattle; however, the cable is only 10'.

I haven't tried this, but maybe you could cut a piece of felt to fit between the cable and the input.

I'll be watching to see what other ideas people have.

Planet Waves cables have a spring-loaded feature on their 1/4-inch phone plugs, which helps make the connection very secure. They work very well for me.

I'll also mention that I don't like string mounted jacks. In my experience, they have a tendency to rattle and buzz and cause problems. I have mounted the jack for my Full Circle like the jack on an Underwood pickup. This is very easy to do using a piece of plastic tubing and a re-usable cable tie. Remove and save the nut and string-mounting clip from the FC jack, slip the plastic tubing over the jack's body, and thread the cable tie between the tubing and the jack. Mount on the tailpiece like the Underwood pickup's jack. The re-usable cable tie makes it easy to remove and reinstall the jack at anytime. Mounting the jack like on the Gage Realist pickup is another option.

I use the jack bracket from my Wilson pickup. It's just a half a tube with a wing on it that has bolt holes through it. It hold a factory jack without the string holder wings on it. I made some wood shims to keep the jack and bracket away from the TP a bit and screw the whole thing down to the TP through the D/G string holes.

Works great, pretty light doesn't change the sound very much if at all and makes no noise.

String jacks suck.
