My future rig!

Kmay said:
You know, I wasn't even aware Eden sold a 2x15. I may have to look into that...I use an Eden 2x10 now...and am very happy with the sound...

I've been searching for a D215XL for years and finally just scored one. Its the tweeter-less version of their current D215XLT. They're pretty tough to find these days (the D215XL) but I'd imagine the D215XLT would be more readily available.

EDIT: It would appear as though Eden has discontinued the D215XLT as well now. I do know that there are still some dealers out there that have some new "old stock." And, every once in awhile, one pops up here on good old TB.

...Everyone is fascinated with their "tiny rigs of doom" and I myself, I own a small rig, but I am still young and while I am, I wasn't a massive rig. I want to be told to turn down! I want the Watts and power! Lol! I have an old school obsession with more power! Lol!...

Just so you know, sometimes it gets worse as you grow older...

It's a fender 610. Lol! J/k...
I am going to get the dual 15 first, and them just see what happens...I figure I could build or have built a couple cabs...I just really don't understand the mid range and tweeter options....I have always played tens, until recently, I tried an old Peavey cab. It had an 18 and 210's in the same cab. I like the bottom end it has. So, I really think I am going to love the 15 cabs. I am still experimenting...so I'll probably end of trying tons! Lol! I am a massive gear whore and get g.a.s. ALOT! Lol!

Wouldn't need mids/tweeters. Both the 3015s & 15PR400s are full-range drivers. If you wanted tweets, the Selenium D220Ti high frequency driver & Selenium HM25-25 horn are superior choices for modest bucks.

If you wanted mids, the 18Sound 6ND410 would be the best choice. But they're $145 a pop. And then you'd want the Eminence Kappa Lite 3015LFs.

Finally got around to looking up those speakers. So, I happen to be pretty decent at carpentry and enjoy doing it. What your saying is if I spend the $300 on one of these speakers (and get two for a 2x15) which will be a total price tag of $600. I could stick them in a box (That I'll do some reach on and design) and after I spend the money on materials and the time it will come out cheaper than a grand (which is what the fender costs)?
I don't know...any thoughts?

Correct. Absolutely. The only caveat is time. Don't know what you value yours at. If you want immediate satisfaction, go with the Fender you mention.

Additionally, a 215 w/3015s or 15PR400s will be light years better sonically, significantly smaller, & tremendously lighter.

And two 3015s are $540. Two 15PR400s are $460. Plus shipping of course.

Well....what if I test the water. Just build a single 15 cab. Which one of those speakers will be better? Or I guess a better question is what's the difference in the two sonically?

Prudent. And if you like it (& frankly, I don't know how you won't) you can do another one. Then you'd have a modular set up that many favor.

As for better? Im(very)ho, you can not go wrong with either. They're both at the pinnacle of full-range 15s. You say toMAYto, I say toMAHto.

There are threads for both the 3015 & 15PR400. Give them a glance. I think the general opinion is that the Eminence has more pronounced mids while the Faital is smoother over the entire frequency range. Others may hold different opinions.
