I've actually been looking for an octave pedal that does an octave up. Most of the standard ones add a lower octave. The one's that go on octave up are generally uber-expensive.

You should play on a double bill with my trio. We've got acoustic synthesizers, electric tuba and lead drums.

Pfft, I run my Micro POG set for only the suboctave, into another POG, and so on and so on until we have 10 pogs, 10 octaves down. No one is lower!

Yeah it isn't exactly new to play melodic lines on your bass (Sir Paul, Jaco, Rocco, Jamerson...)
As long as you refrain from overplaying and have good timing, you should be fine.
BTW, you might want to try out a baritone guitar if you don't want to call your instrument a bass anymore...

That's bass playing in a nutshell.You're so low that no human can actually hear you. That sounds like a great approach.
