My guitar player set me on fire!

Hope it doesn't burn when you use the restroom. : (
Weather there is a scar or not depends on what type of burn it is. If it's a first degree burn, damage will go away in a few weeks. If it's a second or third degree burn then you would have had to go to the hospital and will have the scars for a long time. Third degree burns leave permanent scars and/or permanent disfigurement and you wouldn't be able to feel any thing in that specific area, so you would definitely know that it is a third degree burn.

God bless METALLICA

I bolted directly right to find a place to stop, drop and roll - but that happened to be directly through a cactus and rosebush in big, heavy planters.

...

were able to clean the burbns (soap and water - OUCH!!!!), get them coated in Neosporin, dressed and wrapped in gauze.

Those are the most painful parts of the story! Dressing a 3rd degree burn must have been absolute agony. Hope you get well soon :)

Actually 3rd degree burns are not painful at that point, because its burned through the nerves.

Ouch. Didn't know that. Surely there were areas at the periphery of the 3rd degree burns that could be classified as what's observed in the the worst case 2nd degree burns (considering that burns are classified by skin layers involved). That must've been horrendous.

Burns - the gift that keeps on giving.

Comfirming Maki's assessment of the nerve situation, the day after the event these burns didn't hurt at all. I thought I dodged a bullet and that they weren't as bad as they looked. When I went to the doctor I was running late and actually ran from the parking lot and up 2 flights. I told the doc that I thought I had 1st and 2nd degree burns and showed him 'Texas' (the one on my left thigh) first - he said right away - oh, that's definitely 2nd degree... I said, "but wait, you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

I told him that they didn't hurt at all - "go ahead, touch 'em and see!" He did, and they didn't - and he explained exactly what Maki said - that the nerves were fried - and to hold on tight because as they heal the more I will feel. So true... Funny how it seems... Always alone and never...

'Argentina' is healing and the silver sulfadiazine cream is doing it's job helping the skin grow back and preventing infection. I am getting really good at spreading that stuff like cake frosting so if anything, I'm developing my cake decorating skills nicely. I fully expect there to be scarring.

Ha! Funny you say that, because it does hurt when I pee - in my leg! Now some may say, "Well, you must be doing it wrong or have terrible aim" but I say, "Nae, nae!"

If there's one thing I've learned from this experience it's that there are dozens of everyday things that cause the blood to shift around in your body. Nothing like a nice 3d burn on the calf to act as a meter. Apparently peeing does more than just empty the bladder.

Driving = ouch; Elevator rides = ouch; Standing after sitting with leg up = ouch++. Anything that causes a PB shift = ouch, mah leg! I think I've just earned my 'weather predicting' body part...

I mentioned that I gigged the Friday after the event. Pain must be a performance enhancing thing. I played it like I stole it! Along with our typical improvisational fun, we covered songs like John Legend and Roots version of "Compared to What", Zep's "Kashmir" and "Fool in the Rain", Sublime's "Date Rape", Marley's "Roots, Rock, Reggae" and many other super fun tunes! Man, if there is ever a remedy for pain, it's stringing together and slaying killer jams!

I am definitely healing and I believe I've crested the bell curve for Argentina's pain threshold. Thanks to everyone for your support! TB is a great place to find comfort!
