I bought a half-sheet of this cellulose abalone 4-ply material from a supplier in China and I made a new 'guard for my SR5 with it this morning. The stuff is a little difficult to work (low melting point, so it gets gummy) but the results are pretty fantastic!

  2. Acetate or Nitrate? Wouldn't the Nitrate off gas and possibly damage the pickup and electronics?

Badass........Some may not like it, but it's an original add-on. Myself, I dig it, nice work.

Individually, the p-guard pattern and the color of the bass wouldn't be my cup of tea. But together they they pop!

    Job well done...

That is hideous in the absolutely best way...I dig it! Best part is there's probably not another one out there like it.

It doesn't smell like nitrate, and it has the properties of a cheap acetate... low melting point, yet brittle in cold temps (I chipped a corner when taping it to the template)

    Thank you!

Thanks! The black one was boring... lifeless

My wife said it looks like psychedelic vomit :D

    Thank you!

Dargie Delight (one of eleven in this configuration) + really-hard-to-find pickguard material =

    Yep... you're probably right! :hyper:

    Thank you! :bassist:

Pretty cool. I used to own a 1979 Chrysler Newport, green with paisley green seats and a 400 c.i. 4-barrel, put your guitar in the back seat, you'd really be rollin'!!

I had a '68 Dart GT with green paint, green vinyl and a white convertible top... totally!!!
  14. Yep. That's exactly how I feel. Each, individually -- nah! But together -- it rocks!!

It's not really my cup of tea, but it's surely eye-catching.
Always fun to see a creative mind at work.

This is a vast improvement on the MM pick guard! I never liked the original, but this rocks, and I love the design.

  20. Definite thumbs up. Love the color of the bass, and the guard just sets it off.
