Funny, I found this thread right after the first reply, and was thinking either an octaver or phaser would be the way to go. I might do an mxr 90 in there. Simple switch and knob and done. And I love that phaser. Thanks for the link!

If you do put an effect in please post audio and/or video if you can. I'd love to see it in action.
i put a strap on it (haha sounds funny), and the thing is a little headstock heavy...slight neck dive. That 24 fret neck put the tuners 2 more inches out. I used a lighter wood body, so it's a little divey. had to order some ultralight hipshots. hopefully that 1/2 pound difference (x the extra length on the neck) will even it out.
Hey, it's just a standard B5, and I did the mods myself. I just held it still and drilled it! Not very scientific, but it worked. That said, a bigsby on a bass doesn't do a whole lot - doesn'tdive much in tone - but it looks cool. I cant remember where I found the 4 string bridge, but it wasn't easy! I think I googled forever. I may have found it on ebay! I'll see if I can dig it up.
Thanks! Did you just drill into every other hole of the 6 on the bigsby bar to enlarge them for the bass strings, or just drill new holes entirely on a separate side of the bar?
And I agree, the visual of the Bigsby is super cool, I was thinking of using either a mix of high-gauge guitar strings with low-gauge bass strings or piccolo strings to get a hybrid sound between a guitar and bass, which I feel could be fun to use a vibrato bar with.

From this post, I think I just drilled new holes. I honestly can't remember, but I do remember I at least drilled 2 new holes on the outside. The guitar holes were in too far/narrow for the bridge and pickup.
Please post a picture when done. Maybe we should start a bigsby bass club.
Did you have to add a shim or fix the intonation to account for the extra tension from the Bigsby? And a Bigsby club sounds awesome! I wish they were more common on basses.
I also was looking at some good humbuckers that could be used for coil-splitting. The bass uses default Gretsch mini-humbuckers, so I wasn’t sure if many companies made pickups that would fit into a smaller cavity like that. Any recommendations on that too would be greatly appreciated!

i have none, other than to tell you i love nordstrand and fralin pickups.
i didn't need to shim anything. it intonated perfectly. my strings went out of tune a lot at first though, stretching them with that bigsby, but other than that, it rocks. I played out quite a few times with that bass. people would catch me later in the crowd and asked who was playing the sparkly bass. lol.

I was also looking to maybe coil-split the pickups, have you had any experience with that working well on bass guitars?
