Update: On Monday I've bought an American Precision Deluxe in Glasgow 
Long story short, I had the chance to AB both Jazz and Precision and... I can't resist a P-neck It is definitely the right size for me.
I love the sound of the Jazz but I do love more the feeling of a comfy neck. With the Jazz my fingers were too cramped.
The bass is a display model, there was another one still in the box but that one was the one that I preferred. At least this time it was my choice to have a floor model!
No discounts, not even a set of strings... but I was fine, the bass was fine and I had to take a ferry to get to Glasgow, so here it is the new bass:
Both Standard and Deluxe had the same price, so it was a no-brainer for me.
If I would ever want to have the standard sound, I would just spend 50£ on a Custom Shop '60 P pickup, turn the passive switch on and that's it. And I would still have all of the Deluxe features for me
And the versatility of a PJ is important for me.
So I just have to wait for the Jazz refund and then we can leave this story behind us
And by the way: during the last weekend, before returning it, I carefully played the Jazz and it had a warped/tilted neck: the G side was tilted and lower than the E side. So that was probably a returned item. Good luck to the next customer who will buy that bass.
