I'm honestly not sure what the 70's spacing is, Jon. At the bridge, it's around 17 mm. A tad tighter than I'd prefer, but (for me) better than 19, which my hands can't get used to.
Anyone else know?

I don't know, Jon. Those two SX basses are the closest I've ever come to Fender ownership, and I'm not familiar with the Fender specifics at all. Sorry. 
Bah....for the first time in over 30 years, I missed a gig. I get up at 4 am to catch a 6 am flight. It taxies, then stops and goes back. Engine wiring issue...loose cable. They fix it and go again...and then they stop and go back again. Long story short, the flight was cancelled and there were no other flights we could take to get there by 4. So now we can't book day of show flights anymore, and 1000 people will never know the beauty of a $90 internet bassBoy, those 1000 folks will be really pissed off when they see that you aren't playing a "proper instrument," Jimmy. !

My SX 5 (the same one Eric has in that photo) seems to have 70's spacing, as the bridge pup is significantly closer the the bridge than the bridge pup on my Squier DJAV

China is more capitalistic than the US and they've got billions of people that need jobs. I'll bet I could go through your house and belongings and find 75% of it is made outside the US of A.It's a simple formula really:
Communism + slave labor = SX basses.
But someone has to buy them!
Oh, and by the way. Do you have a job? Do you feel submissive as you work at your job? Do you share profits at the the place you earn your pay check . . . yeah,that's right . . . you're a slave too~!

I can only speak for the SX 5'er that I own, and while it sets up well, seems to be well made, and feels good, it sounds like crap. I've tried it through my SABDDI, EQ'd it, put it through pedals, and it just doesn't sound that great no matter what. More power to you guys that gig with them out of the box. I'm just not hearing what you're hearing.

Go back and read the threads where someone posted old school FENDER Jazz and an SX Jazz mp3 clips (Jimmy M or JonathonD, I forget), and how the VAST majority picked the SX as the vintage Jazz.

Why not? I've got Barts in an SX J bass. The key thing is to retain the original parts and put them back on before you sell the cheap bass.
I got the best recorded sound of my life from my SX P bass. But it had a Fender bridge, a Fender Custom Shop pickup, and TI strings.

Really, though, that sucks. I almost missed a gig once when I locked my keys in the car. My wife, who was in the band, nearly killed me for that one! There's not much you can do to get the plane in the air if an engine isn't working right, though. I hope you don't lose to much money on the deal.

China's economy is very capitalistic. You have to understand their brand of communism is a bit off from Marxist and Soviet varieties and that's really just their government. I don't really want to start a political debate or anything though.
Yeah I've played a few sx and I enjoy them. Really when it comes down to if it can produce a sound it's fine for me. I don't think anyone really cares if I was up there with a $20,000 custom hand made from some rare extinct wood that lost 20 good men studded in diamonds or overseas production model with a hello kitty sticker.

The whole band missed it. And the people in charge refused to move the times of the shows (4 and 6 pm), so we were screwed.

Wow, that sucks. At least it wasn't just you - that would've been bad. Nobody wants to be the one guy out in the cold...
Well I'm sure the show went fine. The casino had a Beatles cover band that did the shows. But I can't wait to call and find out! Won't call Jon because I'll never get him off the phone for complaining but I'll call one of his singers.
You know what gets me? When Heathrow Airport shut down earlier this year, I was in Stuttgart, Germany for two shows, and the Hollies and Boney M were on the same show, and Suzi Quatro's band were supposed to play an hour away from us and they all got stranded. Yet all of them got to the gig in time. They had to go to another airport, but they made it. I get one flight cancelled 8 hours before showtime, and there's no way they can get us there on time. And Salt Lake City is a Delta hub! Totally ridiculous, and a sad indictment of our airline system.
I figured your boss would just "sing" the bass lines.
He seemed to be pretty good at that back in the day.
