my new essex.. wow

Back on topic, I should find out about these myself pretty soon (I've been curious for a while) as I bought a 5 string jazz last night from a TB'er....

I played my new bass thru my rig @ the practice studio, and honestly, i was expecting it to sound like crap, but once again, i was totally surprised.

this is a very good bass. the tone is even, and thick, just like a p/j should be.

the bridge pickup has enough bark, and the split coil has all the bite.

i'm impressed, to say the least. now i just have to fix the action to meduium low, and i'll be set.

I am an Advocate for everyone's right to play, as well, as everyone's right to play a proper instrument. And, I do not think an Essex bass is a proper instrument. I don't believe they use the woods they say they use and, if the do they goes our ecology, and I don't shop at Wal Mart for the same reason. It weakness our economy and enslaves us to recent peasant farmers half a world away.

But its okay for you, you are special a true American, sorry I offended your busta bass playing ass:ninja:

So all of those folks who don't play your vision of a proper instrument might as well, in your eyes, just hang it up eh? Do you have the same opinion about "the proper kind of music" one should play on his "proper" bass guitar? :crying:

Hey, I thought there were no political discussions on TB?

Bah....for the first time in over 30 years, I missed a gig. I get up at 4 am to catch a 6 am flight. It taxies, then stops and goes back. Engine wiring issue...loose cable. They fix it and go again...and then they stop and go back again. Long story short, the flight was cancelled and there were no other flights we could take to get there by 4. So now we can't book day of show flights anymore, and 1000 people will never know the beauty of a $90 internet bass :(

It is because you did not have a proper bass. The plane, and likely, the entire airport, sensed that you were flying interstate with a substandard bass to do a gig in Vegas. There is a significant chance that you have caused a homeland security alert because of your improper bass, and your photo (and likely that of your improper bass) are in law enforcement databases worldwide as we speak. That is, if your improper bass does not cause the complete downfall of the world economy...:smug:

Would you like it if I criticized your grammer, spelling, syntax, word tense and sentence structure, because they are certainly not proper.

We haven't seen hide, nor hair of that character for a while now.

Maybe pointing out that his amps are built in the "Third World" made him re-examine his position. ;)
