I got to try one of those last week at GC Peoria. The Mexico factory has done themselves proud with this bass, IMHO. Major slam dunk!

Hopefully we will start to see the MIM basses quality come up to the level of the MIJ basses, even with the standard series. If we can just get them to quit routing out all that wood underneath the pickguard...

Yeah, that threw me off when I took the pickguard off to clean... It's just that one hole, but man, the burst finish is so nice I was thinking about leaving the pickguard off until I saw that... :scowl:

The reason I chose the 70's over the Geddy was because the 70's has a rosewood fretboard. The 70's seems to have some more low end which I guess is do to the neck. The Geddy has a different bridge I don't know if it is better per say than what comes on the 70's but I'm thinking about trying a Fender High Mass bridge if I can find one and see what difference it makes. The 70's sounds really good and the pickups are not noisy at all, I plan on keeping the ones that are in it. This is one of the best sounding basses I've ever owned and I have owned too many to count.

Thats all I need to hear, I'm getting one, the Geddy is going on craigslist, that rosewood neck with the inlays looks sweet

I got to try one of those a few weeks back at GC and played through a Mark Bass combo amp. The thing sounded killer and played like butter. I ended up fiddling on it a lot longer than any of the other basses I was looking at.

I've had terrible GAS pains ever since...

I would have to say I like the Geddy more. I think the build quality to me is a bit better on the Geddy. And I'm not just saying that because the 70s RI is made in mexico.

Too bad the Geddy doesn't have a rosewood fretboard, that's why I DIDN'T get the Geddy.

Your right, I, either going to sell it or replace the pickups. And like the other guy said the maple neck IMO is noiser than a rosewood neck. But I think the maple neck and inlays are what makes this bass what it is. Thats the only reason I may keep it.

That looks great. I've got the same bass with the same pick guard. It's a fantastic instrument. If the neck was slimmer from front to back, it'd be that much better.

Is this one suitable for heavy stonerrock / some metal? We play in D-tuning, sometimes with a drop C...

Thinking about getting me a sunburst 70s too, to replace my Japanese ATK.
