My new Nordy

Adrian, it's truly a rare beauty of a bass. I saw the video about it on the BP.TV site, and mentioned it to Stew during a phone call the day after - I was calling to ask some questions about their Big Singles, how long a custom order of them in EMG-40 casings instead of their standard Bart-sized, and if they would work as well on a fretless. The answer was a huge "+1", I'm happy to report, as he himself has a fretless very close to mine in terms of woods and construction and says it's perhaps the best sounding fretless he's heard "in person". I just wanted to mention how much everyone in the shop is honored about this bass, that you're as happy about it as you are playing it and where the ultimate donation is going to. The good vibes just about "oozed" out of the phone. 
This is the perfect example of why I've tried limiting my purchases to smaller companies as opposed to huge "corporations" over the past several years. People like Dave and Stew @ Nordstrand, PJ and Stuart @ Spector, Mike Lull and Roger Gee @ Mike Lull Guitarworks, Dave @ Avatar... even John Willis @ SWR, which is pretty unattached to it's parent company in terms of construction and warranty service have all been of tremendous service to myself at one point or another, all more than happy to help out a simple "customer" and not one of their huge endorsers. I also believe it's simply more natural for a company small enough to "know" their customers to help out/"do good deeds" such as Carey's - not that larger companies are huge unfeeling b*stards, but something like this means going through levels of management that by it's very nature is harder to do.
I "+ infinity" the concept of this auction not happening for a long time as well, and if it does? Well, I might just be able to make a bid: I know what it's like to spend a large amount of your childhood in a Hospital, and at least drive the cost up for the St. Jude kids... although I'm completely realistic about my finances verses many of the other members here.

personally, as a bassist with a tight budget...I'll likely not ever posess such a sweet instrument...but I'm not complaining at all...I'm blessed with 3 beautiful children, a gorgeous wife and many fantastic friends...I'm getting a new bass this year, too...and you've inspired me to name mine "hope"...hope that more folks like you can demonstrate God's love in such an awesome way...keep fighting the cancer, brother...you've got a lot more work to do
Aside from the three of celebrating a birthday, Adrian and I turn 50 this year. And Adrian WILL turn 50!
AG, man, that thing is insane! Carey is a master, but that is exceptional even by his standards! I am wanting a 7 string, but that is making me GAS really bad for a Nordy!

Man, I didn't know your disease was this severe Adrian. Mad props to you for fighting so hard. And props to Carey Nordstrand for having a big heart, and luthier skills out of this world.
If I had money to bid with, I would, but as a student, I just can't afford it. When I'm finished with my education in Law, and the cash starts rolling in, I'll be sure to donate some of it to charity.
I've lost two grandparents to cancer, so I have at least a small insight to what you are going through. Even though I'm not a practicing christian anymore, I still believe there is some kind of force that controls things in this world we can't understand.
In December of 2005, I too could've died in a car accident, when we were rammed from behind by a reckless driver on the Autobahn in Germany. We escaped with mere mental scars (and a totalled car), but the incident really made me think about what my purpose on this earth is, and why I survived. Before the accident, I planned my life. But now, I take it day by day, realizing how lucky I am to be alive.
Anyway, here's to good health, hope this bass won't be up for auction in a looooooong while!

Wow, Adrian, that is incredible (or is it?)! God certainly has plans for you, and he's not done with you yet, eh? Not by a long shot! Your fight and many victories over your cancer are certainly inspiring in and of themselves, but you do seem to keep taking it to the next level.).

I was at an outdoor production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' a summer ago & all I could think was -DAMN THAT BASS PLAYER IS GOOD!!! - It was Adrian, slammin' away on an equally beautiful white Nordy.
