Also, I plan on having clips up on Thursday or Friday -I will most likely have my teacher play excerpts, as I havent learned any that involve playing below an Eb.

I have been to Wayne's bass farm and have done business with the Holmes family many times. You'll see that the after the sale service is just as good!!! Great Guy! Congradulations!
I'll be stopping for a crack repair and to check out the inventory when
I go to Abersold camp this summer. Worth the hour detour from I-40
to meet Wayne and play his inventory, for sure.
Everything went quite well tonight. The only complaints I had were "taste" things -the strings are obviously new and fresh. Can't wait for them to break in just a little bit (as they are still stretching etc.)

General note, the "low b string" is more than likely a low c string. I know on my bass of the same make, it's set to hold c-tension, as are most orchestral fifth strings (I.e. C extensions). Definitely check before tuning up, as you don't want to break the string, but if it is a c and you tune it to the c, it works magic on the projection and tone, I know from personal experience
This is very confusing and odd. C extensions are usually on four string basses. Most five strings have a low B, although some have the fifth string on top. There are a number of low B strings that are designed to be low B strings, and there are a number of C extension strings that are designed to be low C extension strings. The latter are long enough to route through the extension.

Enjoy your new bass .It is only getting better -the sound is opening up (amazingly) already, sounding even better now! interestingly enough (surprisingly enough, rather!) its harmonics are powerful and clear. Just finished playing Lorenzitti's Gavotte a few minutes ago. Took some adjusting to get that high up (this is a BIG bass) but after I found a good position I was tearing it up. You may have to accept my tone on a recording if my teacher is unable to do it in the next week. I promise I will have SOMETHING recorded in the next week.
