My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

Here’s an unlikely studio upgrade. A mouse that clicks silently so I can make adjustments on-screen while a take is in progress.
Mind sharing the model on that? I may be in the market to replace my keyboard and mouse for my recording rig, and although I have a touchscreen monitor, I don't trust my fat fingers to be accurate while tracking

There are more silent mouse options, and admittedly cooler ones, if you can spare a USB port for a dongle. I don’t have a port to spare, so I had to go with a Bluetooth mouse.
Finally getting to the list bit of the garden wall in front of the studio.
Subwoofer update: The apartment complex where the sub was sent confirmed that the package was delivered. It was then sent to the unit indicated on the address. The tenants of that unit have been out of the country for the last month, and are expected back later this week. The apartment has left a notice on their door that they received a package of mine and that they should bring it down to the office. When they bring it down the apartment will call me and I can go pick it up. If the tenants don't do the right thing and just keep it then Sweetwater has a brand new Sub8 set aside with my name on it ready to ship it out. Looks like the story will have a happy ending, albeit a delayed one.

Apogee can’t find any issues with my interfaces, but they definitely don’t want to cooperate with my system. We’re trying to figure out what to do next. Serious bummer this far.
In the meantime my cheapo backup/emergency interface showed up. It’s a lowly Presonus Studio24c that sounds shockingly good. Even entry level interfaces like this sound incredible these days.

What was the audio issue with the Apogee?
I did some home tracking the other day and was getting some static - this has happened before and normally resolved by restarting Logic or the Mac and/or unplugging the interface. It’s almost as if every other note is clipping (even when the signal level is no where near 0dB). I’m using a second hand Line 6 UX1 - always put it down to the interface just being a bit crap. A buddy uses the same with a newer MBP to mine and never gets this. Don’t know if it helps, but could be something intermittent with Logic/Apple USB rather than the Apogee..

That seems very unprofessional of them considering how much they charge per unit... If they won't give you anew one, Scarlett interfaces work wonders too

I can understand it from their perspective. They're digging into it in their lab and not finding anything out of spec or malfunctioning. What's their recourse at that point short of me sending them my computer to do a true apples-to-apples test? Everyone is in a tough position on this one.
If I end up with Focusrite it would be the higher end Clarett line, presumably a pair of the 8preX units. If money were no object I would be considering Metric Halo, but after tax and shipping they'd be close to $6,000 for 16 channels, so...
Apogee has done several tests on my units, including running frequency sweeps through both units as well as each unit individually at 96k for an uninterrupted 10 hours per test. No components tested faulty, no dropouts occurred on their system, and there were no indications of any problems whatsoever. They're sending the units back to me. They've suggested that there might be something in my OS that's not cooperating with the interfaces and think that a good course of action would be to do a ground-up clean install of everything on my machine. Not using any backups except for files, just wiping the machine, reinstalling the OS and manually reinstalling all of the programs. This is doable, albeit time consuming.
I'm going to do some testing when they're back before going to the effort of an OS wipe. I've requested a letter from Apogee to be included with the interfaces when they send them back that states that the interfaces have been into their lab and have passed all tests, and have been given a clean bill of health. Just in case I have to sell the interfaces and then the next owner has the same problem. This might give them some leverage in making an extended warranty claim.
