My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

I've never used an iso cab for bass, but Frank over at Push-Pull (studio) here in Seattle showed me the one he built. He said the secret to getting it to function correctly was to absolutely pack it with Roxul.
Inspector is going to be on-site today. Hopefully he'll sign off on everything, and then I'll be done with the city's involvement in this project.
The city is now telling me that they want another $192 for geotechnical review. The date of the charge is after they'd issued me an ECA exemption. I'm running off to a meeting (stupid day job), but will be calling and seeing what they're thinking as soon as I'm done. I'm not in the habit of throwing away $192 just because someone tells me to. Stay tuned!
Building inspector sent me over to a different department. The number he gave me was to some guy's cell phone. He had me email in all of the details and said that he would research what was happening when he got to the office. Hopefully this gets resolved today. I'm in no rush, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to be out from under the umbrella of the city after all the hardships they created for me early in this process.
I'm hangin'. In fact I'm still hanging from earlier when I messaged the guy. Hopefully he gets back to me quickly. I know I said previously that I'm in no rush as I won't be able to do anything on this until the weekend of the 25th, but the appeal of being done with the city is far too great to have me sitting idly by. It's like they're dangling a carrot in front of my nose to keep me running towards the finish lineHang in there man....hang in there....
It definitely feels that way within the city limits. I know of at least one person out in unincorporated King County that built an entire house without pulling a single permit. This was with contractors doing the work who knew to pull permits, but didn't bother. It's an interesting duality. Oh well. At least I'm nearing the end of it. Still no return email from the guy at the city. If I don't hear back from him this morning I'll send him a friendly reminder. As the days go on my reminders will likely get progressively less friendly.
Well that went differently than I had expected. For once the city gave me an explanation, complete with reports and detailed information, that made sense. Unfortunately it showed how a clerk in their office had made a mistake reporting on my project and the amount due was left unpaid. They screwed up, but they admitted it, showed me the documentation, and ultimately I just paid the bill which I should have and would have paid in the first place. I'm now $190 lighter, but we're still moving forward.
Well that's, hopefully, the last bureaucratic hurdle that you'll have to jump.....Onwards and upwards!
Agreed. I'll will need an electrical permit from L&I, but that should be simple since I'm having an electrician do the work.

I was under the assumption his escape is building a studio

In the meantime I aligned and glued down all of the cap blocks, as well as backfilling the area between the substructure and the caps with a type of round rock called Mexican Pebbles.

The pebbles are cool. Millions of years of erosion.

Yeah it worked well enough. My biggest complaint about these caps is that there isn't a corner specific unit, so the very ends along the northern wall look unfinished. I spent a long time trying to align everything through the "field" of the caps (very craggy, bumpy, uneven by design), and the smooth end of the corners. Once I gave up on that and only focused on the field I was able to mostly remove the appearance of the bulge in the wall alignment. It looks much better now.
like most things in life like your wall, you will notice it forever and it will bother you, no one else will ever notice or mention it.
