Even a black pearloid would look really good on that bass too. Or if you've got a few bucks to spare, abalone. I personally like tort on black. I'm going to get one for my black P soon.

Pics? I've noticed that what may look good on a J or P, doesn't always look good on a MusicMan.
How about this one on the right? I know it's a StingRay5, but you get the idea of the colour scheme. (P.S. borrowed from the official EBMM thread)

I was gonna try no pickguard, but it feels a little weird. The pickguard is thick and everything feels far away/high without the pickguard. What about a clear pickguard (no pg look, but still have the feel and protection of a pg)? Got any pics of a black sterling with a clear guard?

My guess depends on what you get. Any kind of pearl would be more expensive.
I do hear that people have great success with aftermarket ones since the bass is pretty standard with no revisions.

Bummer.. Contact EB through their website. I've had good luck with them. They may take a little bit to get back to you but it's usually pretty quick.
I guess I'm in the minority here but I like either the black guard it's already got or the black pearl like jetpackbassist has.
I'm also a tort and abalone fan, just not with this particular bass.

Congrats on the bass; Sterlings are awesome. I, too, like black/blackpearl (also white/white pearl) but I, for one, do not like tort on black. Likewise, I prefer the abalone on a color other than black. Of course, you should do whatever floats yer boat!

That's why I'm trying to find pics of black sterlings with rosewood fretboards with different pickguards. Currently working on getting through the 70 pages on the EBMM forum.
It is. It's smooth too, not dings or anything. Great figuring. I need to take a picture of it in natural light sometime.
