As mcarp555 noted, that's a great move by your keyboard player to "dress" his keyboards in that enclosure. A real pro look.

I hope everyone had a great and safe New Years Eve. We, The Midnight Confessions, played one of our usual venues, Leisure World in Mesa. For a retirement community they are very active and love to dance.

We had a new guitar/vocal sub for the first time, David Maestes. David and I have been friends since Junior High School, both played in different bands since that time, but have never played in the same band. This was very cool for me to have him with us, and he plays and sings great.


We had not so Arizona weather yesterday, lots of rain and cold for us, low 40's. The drive was very wet:

Leisure World sounds much more fun than Seizure World.

I was kinda intrigued by "Seizure World" - either a repossession firm's company party, or some medical Hell. Leisure World, although it makes more sense, is a bit of a letdown to me.

You brought a SR system of better quality music store stuff when there was already an 8 box hang of pro-quality JBL VRX? I'm going to guess it was using what you know or an inconvenient mix position or no dedicated engineer to operate their system. No judgment, just observation.

Smallish boxes on the lip of the stage are not best practices. Those EV mains could probably go on stands giving you more throw with lesser volume and more even coverage front to back. Right now, your highs are having to "fight their way" through the crowd to the back.

Nice repot. I’m in Phoenix for a few days, and it’s the coldest I’ve ever felt it this morning. I realize many of you in the Mountain time zone woke up to sub zero this monrning, but for PHX, it’s downright chilly.


Oh yah, that rig, some of my favorite things there, b-amp + 2xNV115 + Roscoe. Yeah, that’s a great combination for,sure.

Nice report! I liked the 'instant stage setup' photos. If only! And I really liked Russ's keyboard shell. Everything nicely contained and hidden from the audience.

I wish the setup and take down was quick and easy. Russ designed and built that shell, I really like it also.

Hey guy, yup, lived in Tempe for 30 years, played there a few times. Many gigs in fact on the "senior circuit," most recently with a great Clapton trib I was in from 2011 to last year when I moved to east coast. They loved us. I also remember you guys in fact, we crossed paths somewhere...

Some of those gigs can be duds, but overall most are fun, and far better than bars. Good job, happy new year!

Edit: and I see you know Pat James...don't know him personally but heard him many times. My cousins are the owners of the Buffalo Chip. In fact at their wedding, I sat in with Pat and sang Nick Lowe's "I knew the bride..." for my crazy cousin...small world!

I haven't meet Pat either, just know who he is and have heard him play. It is a small world sometimes. We may have crossed paths, This is my 3rd year with these guys but I have played with several bands in the valley over the years, and still fill in with a few really good bands.

Looks like a nice retirement home gig. Nice chunk o' lumber on that bass top! Great to play a gig where the gui**** doesn't use a bigass Marshall.

It's a great place, with great people, and thanks for noticing the bass. It is nice to play with a reasonable guitar player.
