My OT Summertime Blog / Vent Thread

My new house :)

What an ordeal... and the work hasn't even begun yet!!!!

Turns out the family by way of the daughter is connected to the Bloods (I had no clue!). So I had like 10 cops in full gear with shotguns out and aimed as they took possesion of the house for me @ about 10:30 this morning. After they made sure no one was in the home, they stood guard as animal control removed a dog, 3 adult cat and 3 little week old kittens. Then the Sheriff hung out while I changed all the locks.

The son came by right after he left and said "We'll be out for good on Sunday" in which I replied that "no, he was infact gone for good now" :D

Right after walking through with the wife and mother-in-law the renter rushed up the the house saying 'he needs to get his cloths out... in which I told him to contact the local PD :)

SO NOW FOR THE MESS!!!!!

It could have been a double episode of Cops and Hoarders together :crying:

I assume these are the cloths he wanted

Ya know...they KNEW they were getting the boot, why didn't they pack? They sound like scum who have no respect for anybody but themselves. Hope you don't run into any trouble down the line with them. Good luck!

funny thing is we hauled 2 pickup loads of broke crap furniture they had outside a couple weeks back and I know of at least 3 times they had uhaul trucks at the place

I am worried about them coming back... but I have the guy across the street watching as well as the one neighbor. If'n they show, they are calling the police. The across the street guy was friends wit the renter until he cosigned a used car loan and got screwed. He ended up owing a few grand to get it off his record and hasn't spoke to them in over 3 years. He is a union electrician (foreman now actually)... he's offered to give me a hand / offered use of his tools.

P.S....you want me to come over and fix the seam in the lid, just down from the light? :D

-Mike

:D

my shoulders suck for overheads anymore... but that is a short ceiling so it won't be bad. I build a raised floor in that room since it's a converted garage. I also ran a new zone of water baseboard in there too.

The place has potential to be a cute little home... it's just WAY worse than I thought it would be.

It is great news! Congrats on you new house!

I'm happy that you got it back, but I'm sad about all the work you'll have from now on to make it your home... :( Of course, this can be turned as a great experience too! I'm the DIY kinda guy, I'd be thrilled to get the house in shape if it was mine.

No wonder those people didn't pay the rent... Whole place is a mess. But being out of money is no excuse to live in such dirtyness!

Hope they don't bother you.

We would be delighted to see it becoming home sweet home, so keep us updated! :hyper:

The wife and I just went and measured all the rooms to kinda get an idea of what will be where and set some priorities to the way we tackle everything.

Unfortunately we spoke with the lawyer and we need to allow them access to grab what they can tonight before we can start gutting the place.

I will bump this thread from time to time and the renovations start happening :)

Update: What a lovely week it's been...

Unfortunately, like I mentioned previously, legally I need to allow them access to gather stuff... and it also prevents me from just putting it all outside. They are due to show up @10am tomorrow for their LAST access to the property and their stuff.

We have moved all things from the house (except the master bedroom I posted a picture of earlier) into 1/2 of the living room. Carpets are gone from one room and the Bathroom, Kitchen and Dining room are all cleared of broken stuff as well as stage one de-filthing :)

I had the lovely task today of loading and unloading 2 overstuffed full sized pickup trucks worth of maggot filled, dumpster juice leaking tenant filth. I have taken 2 hot water heater's worth of showers and I still keep catching whiffs of it :(

We found a fresh cat dump in one of the empty bedrooms this morning... no sign of a cat, but it was definitely in the house last night. I'm sure it's in the master bedroom somewhere. Being animal lovers ourselves, we did put a little dish of kibble and some water out just inside that room... we'll have to call Animal Control to snatch it after that room is empty tomorrow.

Jimbo... that house got WRECKED... sorry to hear they were such trouble, but I'm glad things are starting to work out.

If you need help, give me a shout. I'd be more than happy to lend a hand to a friend and TB brother.

Thanks Tim... and watch what you offer, I might actually take you up on it :)

I'm thinking I can actually get moved into the house within 4 to 6 weeks. I would have been further along this week if I didn't have to wait on them getting their crap out. I've heard that sometimes the courts will make landlords of evicted tenants store their crap for up to 30 days

Wow James, just catching this story. Major suckage. Good luck with allowing them access. Have the cops on speed dial for when they freak out that you got rid of their good furniture. Then when it's done, crack open a beer or your favorite cold relaxing beverage, and good luck getting to work on it.

So today was 'bedroom empty day'....

Animal control missed a couple :hmm: I love cats as does the wife, and we are nursing them with replacement milk (we had to go out buy)... but we aren't sure we can keep them.

These 2 (haven't sexed them) were in a pile of cloths... seem healthy enough since it's been a few days since Mom was trapped.
