My OT Summertime Blog / Vent Thread

Looking good James. If you were local, I would be over helping a fellow low ender out.

Thanks! I'm actually really down about my complete lack of friends :hmm:

I've got 2 guys that are helping me get rid of junk I need gone, but they cost me like $50 a day each and I only end up getting 2 or 3 real hours of help.

That picture of the tile and such... we figure it's about 7000lbs of materials. The wife and I moved it from the front yard into the livingroom ourselves. A couple people stopped by being nosy, but none helped. One was my Mom-in-law... she gets a pass because she tried to lift one of the 50lbs boxes of tile and couldn't get it to budge :)

Anyway, it took us about 2 hours to move it... it came off the truck on 3 pallets.

Dude I moved those across a warehouse floor all last summer, they definitely do suck! Me and my friend were still proud that we could move 10 pallets (we had pallet jacks) in the time it took the fork life to move 7.

nice! I've spent a good many hours manning a pallet jack in my day. I can see the ability to out perform a fork truck with one in the right setting.

This was 30 foot between and carried 50lbs at a time. IT SUCKED!

reading back and laughing at myself... 4 to 6 weeks! HA! that was a good one :)

Here we are 1/2 done with June and I'm STILL plugging away. Those of you on my FB might have seen me posting pictures here and there... I put together a photo gallery and have been snapping shots through most the work.

I've mostly been working the Kitchen, Dinning room and Master Bedroom so far... I'm hoping to be moved in by the end of August at this point.

thanks Mike! I've got very basic knowledge of carpentry... I did paint houses briefly as well as some minimal masonry stuff. I worked a couple years fixing and building stuff for a local shelter/zoo, but 'finish' work is something I'm reading books/searching the web/figuring out as I go :) There has only been one 'redo' so far.

almost at the one year mark since the place became mine and it doesn't feel like I've gotten anywhere...

Hopefully another month or 2 and we will get to move in.

Here is where I've done the most work so far
