My P Bass Refurb

I just bought one of the wiring harnesses online and only thing I had to solder to it were the pickup wires. It had CTS pots, capacitor and a switchcraft jack. I think it was around $10. I guess if yours had 500K, maybe the pots on mine might have been the original ones - which aren't ideal for a passive bass.
I'm kind of new to figuring out electronics on instruments. 250K seems what passive basses require, but this one came with 500K.
Would the 250K give me a more gradual roll off of tone and volume?

I should say 500K pots can be used but you sacrifice the fine tuning of the 250K pots and some also find them too bright in terms of tone. Here's a thread with more info on the differences that might help.
