Thought I'd mention that I use an omnidirectional mini microphone which I attach with blu-tak to the belly near the f hole. This way I can amplify the true sound that the bass is creating, it's perfect for me. I use a small 10" speaker GK amp. And for those louder gigs where the rest of the band is going through the PA and I just can't get the onstage volume I need, I use an EV re20 microphone on a short stand in front of the f hole, as well as my mini mic.
I have recently tried the DPA rubber clip that attaches onto the strings between the tailpiece and the bridge...but I have found that once attached, it instantly has a muting effect and the bass loses tone and volume, so I have resorted back to the good old blu-tak! :p
