My Peavey Escort 5000 never ceases to amaze

Bought this Peavey Escort 5000 several months back. It's a beefed up version the Escort 2000 and 3000. Super convenient and easy to set up. We've used to several times for a coffeehouse/open-mic in large church meeting hall that's been pretty full.

It has 8 channels with dual purpose XLR jacks and stereo RCA's/switchable to a built in USB thumb drive player. There's a monitor out with volume control and each channel is switchable. There's also a passive subwoofer output. I just plug my Crate bass amp into that and we're set to direct in a bass, some acoustic guitars and mics.

At half volume, maybe a g bit less, the volume was just right and the band that played last week had an EB0, two acoustic guitars, a Cajon and 3 vocalists and the sound was spot on, and the audience hung around for an hour afterwords for an extended jam.

There was no boominess or feedback and the vocals cut thru. I used the built in "Vocal Enhancement" effect which did make a nice difference.

I have a Chevy Spark minicar and the unit closes up into a nice compact bean shape with wheels so you can trail it behind you like luggage. The whole thing fits nicely behind the rear seat in the hatch space.

It even has it's own speaker stands that fit in the case. They look thin, but seem pretty sturdy so far.

I'll give Peavey 5 Stars for cleverness and performance on this system!!!

Update...

Used the Escort yesterday at a carnival gig. (Bedington Vol Fireman's Carnival). We played 2 mics, 2 acoustic guitars and my 5-string electric bass thru it. Used my old Crate BT1000 as the sub and my old Roland Cube 20 for a monitor. People a couple hundred feet away could hear us above the din of all the diesel generators and the hard rock coming blaring out of the speakers over one of the rides. During a break I stood out in front of our Gazeabo while Gary, our rythym guitar player was playing and singing part of a song so I could adjust the eq settings on his guitar channel. I was really pleased that the sound from the system had such clarity and volume even outdoors in such a noisy environment.

So far, I've been very pleased with the Escort 5000.

Our drummer, Mike always used to spend something like 2 hours trying to get everything setup and then deal with his drum kit. I felt really bad that I couldn't take some of the burden so he would want to gig with us more. We had the usual 16 channel Yamaha board power amp, rack with all sorts of amps and stuff. Peavey monitors with BW speakers that weigh 50 lb. each and after all that hassle the lyrics still always sounded like they were in the "other room" IYKWIM.

Besides, I'm 60 and 2 guys in the band already have hernias, so I started thinking we could find a better solution. It was gratifying to see Mike able to leave before the rest of us for a change. I think it took only 30 minutes to pack up including my 10 by 10 gazebo.
