My quest to become as emo as possible.

Shave off most of your hair except for your bangs, let them grow out and go to the side. Then, eyeliner my dear friend, eyeliner. Then, glases, mose emos wear glasses, they don't have to have perscription but if you wanna be emo, wear them. And good for you for being emo and not caring what other people think, I hate when people bash emos for what they do and how they are, if thats the way they want to be just let them be. So good luck.

I'm gonna be EMO too!

Damn right!

I've got decades worth of "errr... thanks" christmas present sweaters that would work great... It'll make my aunties think I appreciate them.

My songwriting clearly demonstrates that I can do the bad poetry thing.

I'm definately too happy to be truly emo, but I could always think about my dead dog to fake a few tears.

The weight thing could be challenging, but I could do with losing a few pounds anyway so I could start sticking my fingers down my throat after dinner. And, I'm pleased to say the hair thing is okay, according to one of the websites I've seen, one subset of emo hair is...

bald head, furry face (boys only). Goes especially well with horn-rims.

I can do that.

Next thing I've got to do is work on the music...

Is there a concensus on whether My Chemical Romance is or isn't emo? If it is, I'm in trouble, 'cause I didn't really like the stuff I saw on MTV. It sounded a bit like Green Day with Brian May on guitar.

I think Fugazi are "proto emo" or emo trailblazers, but MOST Fugazi sounds nothing like emo... past (80s) or present (awful).

But I think I'm going to stick with HAWKWIND! As my response to this thread and the fact that it is still going.

Fugazi is more of a post-hardcore band/or post-rock band at this point. Cheese and rice these categories make me want to hurl when I use them. :p

You want mega emo? Pick up some Texas Is The Reason or Sensfield. I think proto-emo, or maybe proto-screamo, might be Gorilla Biscuits. Yes, it's true! GB begat Quicksand which begat Rival Schools (how effing emo is that band name????) which begat Walking Concert. Also, you must for at least half your set use drop-D tuning and bar all the way across the fret board. This is the most emo chord of all time. Edited to add: your vinyl collection must also contain both ACDC (for ironic head banging) and KISS (because, you now, KISS is cool man).

This thread makes me lollers! :p
