However, when I saw the monitor I was happy as hell:

Uff boy, this is something. 212 monitor wedge from d&b (not to be confused with db...). Probably the loudest monitor there is. Probably also the most expensive one (they go for 4000 dollars used - without the amp that is mandatory...).

That made me happy

When I'm on a stage with D&B Audiotechnik monitors I don't even bother with a stage amp. That's a very, very rare circumstance, though.

Every full production backline gig I've ever played I got an SVT, and a fridge. Some small gigs I've gotten lesser gear, but never anything unusable.

Once, for a run of shows in the UK, I was supplied an Eden 115 cab...with no amp!
Another week (in another theatre) I was supplied...nothing! I’d asked if I needed my amp and they said no. I got by with a couple of 15” monitors with a blanket over the horns!

I've never gotten anything unusable either, although it was less a case of the amp being usable than nobody willing to go on strike for me till they brought me something decent

Last night I played an outdoor gig with an SVT CL and the 810e........ I seem to be the only person on earth who doesn't like those. Sorry

Aguilar DB751 & 2 Chocolate Thunder DB410's this weekend at the BGSU Black Swamp Arts Festival. The rig was the icing on the cake for a well supported event where the musicians were all treated like royalty by the support staff. Notice on the other side was an SWR SM-900 rig with a pair of 4x10s also... in case you didn't like the Aggie stuff. The cellist used it!

I did a festival gig 2 Saturday's ago (Labor Day) and much to my surprise, the supplied backline was also an Aggie DB751 with a DB410 cab.
In fact, they had 2 DB410's, one on each side of the drum riser so bass players could choose which side they wanted to be on. Pretty nice of the sound crew to do that.

This last weekend, I played another Festival here in sunny NCal, and again was surprised to arrive and see this ...
A Genz Benz, GBE1200 and a Mesa Powerhouse cab (1x15 + 4x10s in the same box). Loved the amp, never cared for the Powerhouse cab thing, but the sound co was running a pretty heft stack of SA gear so the audience was pretty much just hearing the PA.

Pretty cool. I once did a gig where there were two bassists, and I used my Micro VR Stack while he plugged into the Aggie stack. But before he got there I tried it out. I found the head surprisingly SVT-like. More like a hybrid version of it but voiced very similar. The cabs sounded good too, but when I turned the tweeter off, they were pretty dark. They were good for the sound the guy was going after (Lakland Duck with Chromes) but I could have used another octave or two of frequency response

I would gladly have played through the SWR, my decision was based purely on proximity... I prefer to hang on the snare/high-hat side of the drum kit... and that's where the Aggie was.
