Decided to start taking pics of the rented amps I get supplied on fly gigs as an ongoing thread, and we're starting with a real doozy! Today I'm at Queens College in Queens, NY playing a show with Bowzer. This is the amp they supplied: {} Now look, I like Hartke amps and Larry is an awesome friend, but even though I'll be the last person to call myself a bigshot, at least make it a 3500 and a 410!
I'll look for photos but a few weeks ago I was in the old Ryman in downtown Nashville, and the stage hands were setting up a backline for a show that night. They rolled three SVTs out of a storage closet, putting one on each side plus the third right in the middle of the stage. I was impressed!
Meh.. it's only for the bass player, what do you expect? Alan Jackson was in town here a few months back, and the backlined bass rig was an SVT CL and one of the newer Traynor 8x10 cabs. Last one I played had an SVT CL and a SVT 410 HLF. Is that Hartke a 15? Can't quite tell from the photo.
wow. I can't even believe they did that to you Jimmy! On a Bowser gig no less.... I would be p****d.....
It gets even better...three of the knobs have crackly pots. Hey, it was a tie-in to our Hershey Park gig tomorrow and it pays well.
wow... All I can say is EQ it to push mids to your ear and rely on the FOH for your low end. Do you at least have side fills?
Side fills...HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But seriously, Bowzer doesn't like side fills anyway, so even if they had them, they wouldn't use them. But I'll make do. Like Torin said, I've used smaller. They just work better than this one. Tomorrow should be better...they always bring me an SVT-CL. I just hope they bring the 810e instead of the 410he they always bring.
LOL! Actually, it's not a bad amp and it's got plenty of juice for the gig. I just wish it had knobs that weren't all crackly.
What? You don't have a contract that spells out everything you require, right down to the color of the M&Ms?
