My Rig Is Dumber Than Your Rig

There are some great deals available. Earlier this year I picked up a Hartke 410TP at a pawn shop for $75. That same week, bought a Hartke HA2500 head with a road case for $125, then a Hartke HA3500 head in a road case with a Hartke 5.4XL for $400.

I recently went through the house and garage to photograph all the instruments and PA gear. When I sat down and added up the replacement value of everything I realised I was WAY under insured. I was good for $7500 worth of gear outside of the house (at gigs in other words) but realised that we actually take around $15,000 worth of gear to gigs. Increasing the insured value of goods outside of the house to $15000 only cost an extra $70 for the year. Very well worth it I think.

When I was younger I had a goofy dumb franken rig. Peavey Session bass into Lankey and GK 115 with the tuner or line out into the front of a Peavey TKO. Before that I had an old Pioneer tube reciever into some jbl equipped home audio speakers haha. At that time I was still making monthly payments on my 97' Warwick Corvette to my buddies mom through the lunch line at school (she was a lunch lady and he was in college so it was just easier).

Once that was out of the way I started getting better/ name brand or mid level or higher gear.

Saw this guy play last weekend:

He plays an acoustic guitar that he found in a dumpster. Added a pickup and plays through a similar vintage amp. Percussion from his feet through a range of similar vintage "instruments" One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Go see him when he comes through your neighborhood.

It ain't what you're playing, it's how you play it.

I actually dig the front end. And saving up a few bucks for a stronger amp/cab won't take too much. Heck, I would stick a cheap power amp in the rack and then grab a cheap 4-10 and let that sucker eat.

But as is, in the situation you find yourself in, it's a great start.

That's where it's headed. Going to find a cheap power amp and rebuild a 212 cab I have and go from there.

A good advice that worked for me was to research functions for each parameter. Some of then interacts with the others, so os a little difficult to start. In the beggining i use to push the bypass buttom and the sounds becomes better...
