My Rig

Could do that with 1 8x10 in alot of venues, if it was a huge STAGE (not venue, you don't wanna worry about your amp being loud enough for anything but stage volume when you get to that kinda size of gig) then it might warrant 2 8x10s.

I still don't get WHY you want 2 4x10s as well as an 8x10, is there any particular reason?

Anyway, you don't wanna be going for Trace if your after a sound anything like Dirnt or Hoppuses'. Dirnt used to use Mesa M-2000 heads into Mesa 6x10+1x18 rigs, and now uses Fender Pro 1200 heads into Fender Pro 8x10s. Hoppus (at least in his later blink days) used Ampeg Classic 8x10s with one of Ampegs pro series amps, not sure which one. Wouldn't say Hoppuses' sound is Harsh though, pretty deep and round with a nice high mid growl to it to my ear, and I wouldn't say Dirnt has a very trebley sound either, apparently he runs his amp flat with a slight boost around 1k (the middle of midrange ;)). Alot of what you think might be "trebley" is actually higher end midrange when it comes to bass definition.

What's your exact situation though, are you playing in a band, have you been gigging, what kinda place have you been gigging etc? We need alot more info.

I'd buy a REDDI, it can be the loudest rig that ever existed, and the quietest.

Significantly cheaper than either option and sounds better too.

I'd pretty much NEVER recommend a colourless (it is colourless right?) DI to a rock player, especially in place of a decent rig so you can hear yourself well on stage vs. loud guitars and drums.

I havea funny feeling that this is little more than another troll post...

Yup.

Just seems "funny"... Remember the kid who challenged Tom Bowlus to a gear competition?

I'm not trying to discredit the kid who started this, so I'll take back my "troll" remark.

From another angle, it seems like the kid has found some expensive gear, and is seeing who elso likes his dream setup, and is looking for someone to assure him it would sound great.

haha....
your gonna have quite the time moving all that junk arent ya? or have you thaught about that yet? i hope you and your friends workout.. but seriously bro, if your wanting a killer rig, just get a mesa powerhouse 810 and a 400+ all tube head... or maybe a ampeg,aguilar or trace of the same kinda configuration. thats more than you will ever need in your lifetime.. spend the rest of the money on your college education bro. good luck!

You must pass a test in order to post on Talk Bass. You must own a Mark Bass a Carbine a Lightweight QSC etc........ Whatever the flavor of the moment may be you must own it.

You may not post about a big rig if you want to put it in your back yard and play to the Squirels.

You must be in the In crowd and you must dare not question the status quo.

Also if the original owner of a Booteek Builder sells out to another larger company you must trash the once coveted company now, not the guy who soled it for a profit.

I lol'd :smug:

Either way, best not to feed the troll.

Sometimes I don't think that's such a bad idea. At least some sort of netiquette one. "How not to be a dumbass and troll" or something.

Whever has said that? We're just questioning the legitmacy of this thread. Apparently it was just a phoney, since the OP hasn't come back anyway. Also, a lot of us were questioning his "need" for such a big rig.

And again, no one's said anything of the matter here, either. You don't find it the least bit odd that a 14 year old wants a rig that he obviously doesn't understand the first thing about? OR about how to play large venues more properly? Or how we might be able to better help him by suggesting something other than a stupid huge rig?

Perhaps you shouldn't have even responded to this thread, as you've contributed excatly nothing to help.

With so many of all ages meeting that same description, who's to know? ; }
IMO, the fact that he's 14 makes it even more odd, because someone that age (normally) can't afford anything like this on their own. It's not just plain ignorance working against him, it's the entire situation. He's 14 and playing gigs that big? Ok, maybe not, but then why get the big rig? If you look at his profile, he already has a rig big enough to deafen people.

Don't tell anybody, I am locked in glenview's criminally insane ward and have fabricated a wifi antenna from a baker's square pie tin and a pen to connect to the HOT SPOT Kentucky Fried Chicken store #133 on the hill.

I know it doesn't say so in my profile and I don't even know what a bass is for sure... But I am the reincarnation of ... oops go away, put down that prod... oh owe.

It's probably Red Planet in disguise. He just wanted to show that some of us are leaders and others are followers. I my self am a follower; }

I understand. It for sure wasnt me. Heck I didnt even read all of the thread. To condem someone for no reason is just a little bit over the line. Whatevet their motive might have been.
